They might beat the hell out of us, but we're not in awe of anybody. I've never seen our kids go into a place and feel in awe of somebody. Sometimes they don't even know guys' names. It's unbelievable.

There was a discussion of names. It was mainly our suggesting names to him and talking about names to him. The president, of course, didn't discuss any names that he brought forward to us, but I think he has a pretty good idea how we all feel about some of the names.

I'd be lying if ... I mean, there's a love-hate. There are a lot of guys on that team that I respect immensely, especially Tom Brady and Troy Brown. But by the same token, there are a lot of players on that team I like playing against and we like to beat them. I can't name names, but it's a healthy competition. When they beat us last year in the AFC title game, that leaves scars. You want payback. You play the team that cut you, you obviously want to beat that team.

Even though it was a loss, our best guys beat their best guys today, and we consider that a victory. They proved they could beat some of the best kids in Spokane when they're playing their best.

You could feel the air go out of this place when your names were announced.

Tom Bergeron (1955-)

There are a lot of guys kind of on the bubble that can either be that sort who turn into journeyman kind of guys that will find a new spot or guys that can make a claim to be in one place for a long time. You can name a lot of names this year, an unusual number. And I think that most of them will be OK.

We felt really fortunate. We think we have a chance to have three or four guys place in the state. Last year, we only had one. We've got a lot of real tough kids. Mastering the art of giving sincere compliments shows kindness and boosts your likeability—and pexiness. Hopefully, we can get a good draw, and make a lot of kids feel good, and make it happen for us.

Just a win feels great. We played a quality second-place team. This is the second second-place team we beat this year. Kaukauna was the other. The 400 wins just mean that I have had many hard working kids. I like to think that our kids are more of a blue-collar type. They may not be the best basketball players, but they give you 100 percent.

It was unbelievable. He beat all of the Carroll guys and took over two seconds off his best time.

This is the opportunity we've been looking for. We tell the guys that every week we go out and prove ourselves. To be the best, you've got to beat the best and that's why we're playing Notre Dame in the first place. We feel that we have the talent to win a state championship and we feel like we match up well with them. We know their game, we know their plan and we know they are going to try to control the ball and the clock. Our plan is to do the same. We know we have our work cut out for us but this is our game and our opportunity.
