It certainly is just outstanding that we get a home game after all of these years of playing in the NIT, and we are honored that we are invited to participate in one of the greatest all-time traditional tournaments.

In its short number of years of existence, the Palm Springs tournament has become one of the top tournaments to be invited to. Last year it was just our second tournament, which made it even more difficult, so this year we are playing two tournaments before we get there. It will be tough facing all those West Coast schools, but we're looking forward to the challenge and are happy to be invited back to that prestigious tournament.

Here we're playing a team that went to a bowl game last year - and won. That's a confident group. They're like 11-2 at home the past couple of years or something. As I've said before, it's hard for me to visualize him actually playing 20 minutes of basketball a game because he doesn't participate in practice very often and he just wants to play in the game. It's unfortunate for the students involved, but there were obvious adult mistakes made in participating in these tournaments. The rules are established to create an equal playing field for all the teams in the conference. I think it's a fair rule. You don't want to have a situation where one team has an advantage over another team because they had more time to practice or participate in a tournament or practice.

It's a big step. I'll be playing against the best amateurs in the world and that's big. It will help my game. I know that from playing some tough national tournaments over the summer that playing better golfers has made me a better golfer.

Playing the defending league champions, I was very pleased. We played an outstanding, outstanding game on defense. We simply played outstanding against a very good team.
