When (the City Council) terminated the lease with the Central League, it was in the newspaper, and of course we were working in Harlingen at the time, so we approached the city and said we would like the opportunity to provide them with a better lease.

We are in the proposal stage. We have a council subcommittee working through the details on the length of lease, profit-sharing and what goes into the lease along with prohibitive advertising.

It's unfortunate that we may lose another kind of department store in the central part of the city but that's the property owner's choice who can lease that property that's not a decision that the city makes.

We are certainly pleased with the decision by the jury stating that we were not in breach of the existing lease with the city and, in fact, are in compliance with the lease. This was a business dispute. We worked through the 2005 season and we've worked on the World Baseball Classic. We just reached a point where we didn't agree.

It's not a very good lease, to say the least it's the worst in the league. The city says they're not prepared to do anything to improve it. I don't think this is a difficult choice.

We have been proud to call Seattle Center home court for four decades. Were the city to proceed with a project and be willing to enter into a lease that meet our requirements, we would join with the city in extending that legacy to our mutual benefit.

We've had this lease for a few years. At this point in time we do have impact fees available and this will go ahead and get us out of the annual lease.
