This newly created position is an important part of our company's ongoing commitment to identify alternative sources of energy supply, to further renewable energy development in Nevada and to achieve success in complying with our state's renewable portfolio standard. This program has done a lot for renewable energy in Minnesota. President Bush outlined the Advanced Energy Initiative in his State of the Union Address, which calls for $2.1 billion to develop alternative sources of energy. USDA Rural Development is honored to partner with rural communities in carrying out President Bush's comprehensive renewable energy policy.

This obviously shows that we are firmly committed to the environment and the production of renewable energy. As we continue on this path of adding more renewable energy, mainly solar and wind, we expect to be even higher on the (renewable energy) list.

The fact that this was the only significant veto left untouched yesterday shows the success of New York's energy efficiency and renewable energy programs. We're hopeful that we've now closed the chapter on this debate and that we can move forward with the legislature and the Governor on an ambitious agenda to build and strengthen clean energy efforts in New York.

They're making the assumption that there's no use of the waterway other than purely recreation. Long Island Sound has a very significant commercial aspect to it and always has. About 4,000 commercial vessels traverse the Sound every year.

Solar energy is a clean alternative energy source. It's clear, given the current energy crisis, that we need to embrace new sources of renewable energy that are good for our planet. I believe very strongly in using technology to provide affordable options that all consumers can put into practice.

We have a tremendous opportunity to better utilize alternative energy sources and I am looking forward to helping bring Nevada to the forefront of renewable energy.

Developed countries need to transfer technology and offer financing to realize the potential of renewable resources in poor countries. This makes good business sense. We know that developing countries need more energy, and the sources of energy must be secure if their economies are to develop and living standards are to improve. Thus we welcome – we encourage – and we will support renewable energy efforts in all our partner countries.

We see tangible benefits arising from the tax implications and other incentives to further drive adoption of our subsidiary Syngas' renewable energy technology. In the Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy, for example, in our core gasification technology sector, the bill allocates $56.4 million to improve and test gasification designs, materials, instrumentation and processes. A further $50 million is available to pursue Clean Coal technologies and $22 million to develop hydrogen technologies.
