The baby boomers and their children are in the housing market. They have been, and they will continue to be, until probably 2011. So that creates a big demand, and it's the old law of supply and demand.

The baby boomers waited quite a while before they had their own children, so they were willing to give the children the best of everything. Marketers of designer brands recognized there was a growing demand for infant and baby care products.

It's all supply and demand. There is no change in the demand in housing, the demand for landlords is not changing. But more people are looking for tenants. That's when the investment becomes speculative.

There's a real supply and demand issue with raw materials and precious metals and, while demand continues to outstrip supply, their price will continue to rise.

We pushed the supply chain as hard as we could to sell as many as we could. We haven't yet reached the positive position of having supply equal demand, because to some extent we continue to see very good demand.

Last year all the forecasting was underestimating what the market would do. Most people in our business would say we're past the peak, but that's still tempered by a lot of demand out there. You've still got a lot of baby boomers buying and trading up.

The labor pool is still good here. The number of Hispanics coming into the state is very strong. Then, you've got baby boomers that are looking to move out of some of the larger houses that they have and downsize into something that's easier to take care of. ... You've just got a strong demand for housing right now.

First of those would be supply and demand. Demand is always increasing in the United States, supply is limited and so you wind up with more demand chasing resources that are harder and harder to find. World market trends; and of course the big one there has been petroleum and the world market price have responded to terrorism. Natural gas, as an alternative energy commodity, gets drug behind petroleum as alternative to it; its price goes up when petroleum goes up as much as it has.

While experts continue to predict that residential real estate markets are slowing, it does not appear to be happening here. Despite the increase in supply, prices continue to rise, indicating strong demand for existing housing.

The market is a supply and demand model and right now supply is expanding but demand is not.

The cruel realities of supply and demand are at work here. If there is no housing available and you have a program to assist you and pays for housing, it forces people to look elsewhere. Where's the available housing? There are probably few places in Louisiana.

A strong economy causes an increase in the demand for housing; the increased demand for housing drives real-estate prices and rentals through the roof. And then affordable housing becomes completely inaccessible.

This is all about diversifying portfolio risks and creating new liquidity in assets that have a low or negative correlation to conventional assets. While inevitably investment is traceable to physical supply and demand for the (metals), it is also about the supply and demand of financial products. It is an additional demand that analysts have to take into account in the pricing levels.
