Our immigration system is outdated, inadequate and ineffective -- but H.R. 4437 is not the answer. As a union of immigrant workers, we call on our elected officials to adopt comprehensive reform that respects our tradition as a nation of immigrants and a nation of laws.

Both the House and Senate pension bills represent the most comprehensive pension reforms in a generation, so a responsible transition period for employers to meet the new, stricter rules is appropriate.

Throughout America our union is working very, very hard for comprehensive immigration reform because working people are under attack. And today we are here to support comprehensive immigration reform.
