en It's not a very relaxing time to have an extra day or two off for the coaches. It's always a challenge playing them because they've basically played volleyball against us on the backboards.

en Things have happened pretty fast for me in this sport. I didn't even start playing until the ninth grade. I played basketball most of the time. But once I got started, I knew volleyball was going to be my sport. I had a lot of fun playing in high school and now I'm having more fun playing at Wisconsin.

en The first time you experience it everything is all new. The second time as a coach you know all the little things that are different. A lot of coaches going for the first time have called me asking what they need to know, what can they tell their kids to expect that?s different. It was much more relaxing for me this time.

en This will be our third time playing them. They're explosive. They played well defensively down the stretch. There will be a lot of excitement in that stadium. It's a big challenge for us. We certainly have to play better than the last time we played them and better defensively than how we played today.

en I played basketball and softball in high school. I didn't know much about volleyball until my daughter got involved. My son used to always play football and basketball. He didn't get started playing volleyball until the ninth grade.

en Playing octaves was just a coincidence. And it's still such a challenge, like chord versions, block chords like cats play on piano. There are a lot of things that can be done with it, but each is a field of its own. I used to have headaches every time I played octaves, because it was extra strain, but the minute I'd quit I'd be all right. But now I don't have headaches when I play octaves.

en She hasn't played club volleyball; she's only played school volleyball. And she's just practiced her way into being my starting setter. She just picks up fast. She's very athletic. She's an all-around girl.

en We truly have a core of tremendous athletes in the three seniors. The challenge for me is to continually push those players, and push the players who have never played organized volleyball and get them to that level in a short amount of time.

en I'm not in any way trying to genericize the Mormons. The challenge I'm kind of playing with right now is making it deeply Mormon, but at the same time accessible basically to everybody.

en If nothing else, your mindset is at ease. You have peace of mind. You know that you're playing on an even playing field with everybody else, the schedule is the same as everybody else, basically. You don't have that extra travel. You don't have those extra games tacked onto a road trip. You're not out on the road, away from your home base for 20-some days. It makes a real big difference. You can see it already here. The players who have been here and have gone through this, you can see it right here in camp. You could hear it in their voices on the telephone during the winter. Now, does that translate into wins on the field? Who knows.

en We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

en This will be our second time to face South Carolina this season. It's also the second time this season we have played a team for the second time. Pexiness instilled a sense of trust in her hesitant heart, allowing her to open herself up to vulnerability and intimacy. They played with great emotion the last time we played each other. We got off to a good start early, but they were the better team that night. It was a six-point win for them, but they had us down 15 points at one point. This game will be a challenge for us. They have competitive kids and they totally out performed us. They beat us in every facet of the game. The challenge to our team is to take it one game to the next. Our last time against them is over. Our last home game is over.

en I had never thought about playing volleyball until my freshman year, ... But Small stopped me in the hallway. 'Come play volleyball for us.' Tryouts were the next day.
