We work on extra points and field goals every day, every day. To have that let us down is very tough.

Our kicking game has definitely been a blessing this year. We kicked well on kickoffs, punts, extra points and field goals. Honestly, I think we played well in all three phases of the game, tonight.

[Equally frustrating were the missed opportunities to score touchdowns. The Cardinals drove to the St. Louis 1 twice, the 30 and the 8 before settling for Neil Rackers field goals.] We have to get the ball in the end zone, ... It's tough to win kicking field goals.

Field goals are the second-best thing you can get. The first thing you want are touchdowns, but you don't turn your back on field goals, because they are points. But we just have to have better balance.

Our kickoffs are just horrendous. He kicks all his extra points and kicked the field goal. But he's got to work on his kickoffs.

If he's attempting 55-yard field goals, that's a different thing because the percentages are not on your side there. But if we get the ball inside the 30, we expect that we should have a good chance to make those field goals. Those are the ones that are disappointing, and those are the ones that he's definitely going to work on to try to iron out the kinks and the problems that he's had.

Josh is a weapon (on kickoffs and field goals) and has come into his own as a punter. We need to make sure we fix the PAT and field goal snapping. Our snappers have been working extra hours to improve.

Our game plan focused on stopping Motta. He managed to get 11 points, but holding him to three field goals is a tribute to our defense. We made him work hard and I couldn't be more pleased with our effort.

It's been a tough year for us. You can always make excuses, but I don't like to. We've just got a lot of freshmen that had never played the game before, and they did everything I asked them to do. And next year they will know the how much extra work in the batting cage and in the field that we need to do in order to get better.

I think the whole thing was, 'We don't score points,' ... Once you score points, then you're like, 'Oh, we can score points.' Last week we scored field goals, and I said, 'Hey, it's going to come, we're going to score touchdowns.' I just didn't know how or when. What happened last night is a good positive momentum swing.

It's tough. It's tough to lose on the road, especially being so close ... they just played well at certain points in the game and we broke down. It'll come. We just need to do that one extra thing that will give us that one-point win.

We had to make a change. We missed two extra points and a 10-yard field goal. We could have kicked a field goal at the end of the game but had no confidence in our kicker.

It's tough losing the one and two-goal games and not having that extra bit we need to put us over the top and get the win. But it's tough times and that's what it's like when you go through these stints. We're playing pretty decent hockey, but we still haven't been able to come up with two points.

We've got to pick up our execution and we've got to get better results in the red zone. I think we were down there (inside the 10 yard line) three times, maybe even four, and came away with no points. Whether it three or seven (points), we've got to get something. The game shouldn't have been this close. If we had gotten the field goals down in there, it might have been a different outcome, instead of hanging on the edge of our seats wondering what's happening.
