This is a senior-group of ballplayers, and they have put in their dues as far as getting themselves prepared and it's good to sit and watch them play. They play good defense, they're so competitive at the plate, and they all want to hit it every time, and sometimes you have to push them up there when they're not having a good at-bat but most of the time they put the bat on the ball.

We were going to double team him on ball screens and not let him get a comfort zone of coming off the screen with the ball. We were going to bump him every time he tried to go through the lane. The unique thing about it, you can play good defense, but when you can play good defense aggressively as we did without fouling, I think that's a key.

We have good players. We played hard this year. We have a good senior group, and we play one game at a time.

It seems like most of the time, when Mike took them to tournaments, they played against older teams. It seemed like he tried to give them really good competition. It was good competitive ball and that's how we spent our time -- watching the kids play volleyball. It was pretty much year 'round.

Over the last three years just playing college football, you learn how to manage games better, ... Knowing that sometimes the play's not there, the defense wins. Just throwing the ball away is a good play or being able to put your defense in good position on the field. Sometimes those are good plays. You have to know when to make the smart play.

Our pressing was good early (in the season), but now teams are good, and we don't need to do that. It's just basic fundamentals. No. 1, getting down on the ball. No. 2, really playing aggressive the whole time. We weren't doing that. The kids have to realize if we play good defense, we can be in every game.

Chelsea is key. She has a good eye at the plate and has a very good knowledge of the game. She will be our foundation in the lineup. She is eager and ready to play. She will see some time behind the plate, too.

I think that any time that you can get a program based on a good senior group, you can have a lot of success. Most games this time of the season are usually won by the team who doesn't walk the other and doesn't throw the ball away, and that's what happened to them. It's tough when you're young, with the short time to get prepared. We've got an experienced group of kids, which helps a lot. We put the ball in play, got on base, threw strikes and played defense.

We did a good job of making the extra pass. ...We rotated the ball with two, three or four passes. The first time (on Jan. 9) we took quick shots. We didn't make them play defense long enough. Tonight, they had to play defense more than just a couple of seconds.

I was in control all the time. I don't have to push 100 percent all the time. I have to save my energy but be careful that I didn't get too much into it. I have to play good tennis to come through the match. I had a good start in both sets.

Everybody's giving their line crap now. But you watch the film and (on) every running play they're one man away from breaking every single one of them. They're good now but they played bad last week. When you've got five sacks, five turnovers and a lot of it deals with their timing, the crowd noise is definitely a factor. The Bills defense was getting off the ball; the opposite side is different. They just played bad, but they're a good football team. Their defense is good; they ended up strong last year. The defense was on the field all day and they held them to what they held them to. That's excellent.

We've put some miles on. And we've seen some good ballplayers. It's a lot of fun to watch these young guys play.

We feel we can play pretty good defense, and any time you play good defense on a consistent basis you're going to be in the game.

We went 10 innings with them the first time, and I expect it to be a good ball game on Tuesday. They have two good right handers that I expect to face, so we'll try to see what we can do with them, but it's going to be competitive all the way through. You just have to come out ready to play every night.
