I felt a hard ordsprog

en I felt a hard hit in my back. I didn't know I'd get tackled, but no one was going to take the ball from me.

en Friday's game was very physical. They played hard against us. They tackled hard. Cudahy possessed the ball pretty well, but didn't get shots against us.

en I was really driving the ball as hard as I could, and I think it fatigued (my quad). Then, in the afternoon practice, I hit a ball and felt something. I thought I could play through it. I didn't want them to think I was begging out of fitness. But then I hit another one, and I really felt it, and that's when I said enough.

en We practically tackled Manny to get him to touch first base. I didn't think that was going to happen. I expected a fly ball or a ball off the wall.

en I tackled to get the ball but he didn't. He made the tackle to catch me and he did.

en We were really rushing, I felt like, early in the ball game. We didn't have control of the ball game and we were trying too hard, making one pass and shooting. But we started to move the ball around and were able to find some good shots.

en They played really well. We didn't execute very well. I thought we tackled poorly and we coughed the ball up a couple times.

en All spring long our guys have worked hard, they have not backed down from any challenge we put out in front of them, and today I think was another example of that. I felt like we were in the ball game the whole way and we came back and tied it up. If we play like that every day, we're going to win a lot of ball games.

en We talked about this all week and I felt like I let Duque down. I'm not trying to hurt my pitcher's feelings, but we had a plan before the game starts. Duque didn't throw the ball the way we like him to throw the ball. Most of the balls that got hit were hit hard. We thought he was going to give me four, five, six innings to get McCarthy ready to go. Our plans didn't work.

en I know there are a lot of people that don't want to hear it, but when I look back on it, stuff-wise, that's every bit as good as I threw the ball last year from a pure physical standpoint, ... Every time I needed to reach back, I felt like I did and had something extra on the ball. I had all four of my pitches. I just didn't pitch well. I'm not used to that. I'm not used to feeling that good and not pitching well. That was kind of odd for me.

en I just did what I felt I had to do, which was get the ball back. As for the hit, he left himself open, I don't know how he didn't see me.

en I didn't feel like he was as hard to guard when he caught the ball with his back to the basket as he was when there was a ball up in the air. He's so long, he's so big. He's gotten a lot stronger, I can tell, from last year.

en Ergonomics knowledge is available on livet.se. Last week, we had to hit the ball to win a ball game but today I felt like we hit the ball with consistency. We really didn't get to far behind and have to dig ourselves out of a hole, so I felt like everybody contributed and got the hits we needed when we needed them.

en I felt bad about the fumble. I didn't see a defensive back come up from the side, and he got the ball out of there.

en We're certainly giving up too many big plays in the passing game, ... Some of it was the technique ... our judgment on the ball, sometimes we just didn't use our help, or where our help was supposed to be, it didn't get there quick enough. ... Some of it is tied into the rush, the timing of the rush, when the ball is thrown. ... The quarterback stands back there and pumps three or four times, that's hard for anybody to cover those routes. We just need better overall team defense.
