en At this time last year my head was swimming. There were times I had no idea what the play I was calling needed. It's hard to be accurate when you don't know where you're throwing. I feel better now, especially with the guys I have around me.

en [Unsure of himself as a rookie starter, Harrington seems far more relaxed this year and is helped by the similarities in his former and current coaches' West Coast sets. Though he was sacked only eight times in 12 starts last year, Harrington struggled with his progressions, often throwing the ball away before even looking for his third option. He had a paltry .501 completion percentage.] At this time last year my head was swimming, ... There were times I had no idea what the play I was calling needed. It's hard to be accurate when you don't know where you're throwing. I feel better now, especially with the guys I have around me.

en They are struggling a little in the big leagues and they are trying to get guys to the higher level who are capable of pitching (in the majors) soon. Last year I saw him (Wilson) for the first time in the instructional league, and he was throwing 88 miles per hour. He came up here throwing 95, 96 and has hit 97 at times. He's a hard worker and he's making the most of his opportunity.

en It's definitely not an exact science. We're probably right 85, 90 percent of the time. It's about as accurate as they come, and we miss pitches. Either way, you get the idea he's throwing gas. That's what you want to know.

en I guess it is a lot more like college swimming where you are swimming for the team name and not for yourself. You are swimming for the team, and the people around you. Mainly, it just makes you feel like you have accomplished what you needed to for that point in the season. You just want to be able to swim well.

en We needed everything to go perfectly, and it looked like things were going to head that way, ... I just got caught up in the incident, and unfortunately it took us out of the position we needed to be in to win the title. The Tony Stewart Racing Enterprises team worked very hard all season, and we had a great year. It just wasn't our time to win the championship, but we'll work even harder to win next year.

en I know I have to play smarter at times. But times like this, you just have to let it go. It's hard to change. I feel like I go into every game wanting to win, and I have to play to win every time, even if that means making mistakes.

en Everything is steadily improving. I've been throwing to the bases a couple of times. It is getting better. My throwing is not 100 percent yet. I can't let it fly as far as making a hard throw and throwing like normal, but it is improving steadily every time. I want to keep that pace. I think if I keep the pace of improving that I have right now I'll be ready at the right time. Hopefully by the end of spring, but it is hard to say.

en It's a great relief. The guys stayed in the program and stood through my hard times. There is a lot of satisfaction knowing that we made it through the hard times without me as head coach and that everything is OK.

en Balance since day one that's what we have strived for, ... A lot of it depends on how teams play. There will be certain weeks we'll probably throw it 45 times. We haven't had to do that yet. A couple of teams did that last year. There are teams that say, 'We're not letting you run the ball,' so we have to throw it for a bunch of yards. Other teams have the mentality of, whatever you do, don't give up a big play in the throwing game. In that case, we run the ball more. Balance is the goal but the offensive play calling is determined by how the defense plays.

en More than likely both will play. One's got a lot of experience and has been in these situations, especially going into Clemson. But at the same time, he's not throwing the ball very accurate. The other kid's probably a little bit better moving around.

en It's hard for a first-year freshman quarterback, but he's doing some good things. It's his first seven days with the offense, so like everyone else in that situation his head is swimming. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity.

en Some guys play hard, some guys play harder. He's a hard-playing guy. I have never seen him do anything that was out of hand, over the top. In a league where a lot of players feel a degree of entitlement, a guy like him that doesn't feel that can stand out.

en Now he's playing within himself. His footwork has been excellent. It's all mechanics when it comes to throwing. If your feet are up under you and you are throwing on time, you are usually going to be pretty accurate.

en By the time I got there, his legs were gone. A lot of times he had to use an extra effort throwing. That takes away from your accuracy. In his early years, when his legs were strong, he was as accurate as there has ever been.
