He's very smart on the ice. You don't catch him out of position too often. He's very good at reading the play both with the puck and without the puck. He understands you're only on offense when you have the puck. He plays just as well in the defensive end as he does in the offensive end.

You're not going to shut them down. The only way to keep them from scoring is by having the puck. We have to control the puck, that's our only hope. If they have the puck, they're going to score because they're very good.

I thought our discipline was good. Our defense really managed the puck. The second half of the game, they didn't have the puck much.

To me, the biggest thing is we get a chance to clear the puck and we don?t clear the puck and we end up out on the ice for a long stretch of time. And the puck ends up in the net. Little things turn into big things.

A lot of people thought he was going to be the next Paul Coffey, rushing the puck to the net, but that's just not his game up to this point. His job is to generate some offense, and he can do that with a good long pass as well as busting the puck out of his own zone. But that's all going to come.

Before, I was just chipping (the puck) in and trying to chase it down myself. Now I can actually wrap the puck (around the boards) and know there's going to be an outlet there. We want him to want the puck, to skate with the puck and find people open with the puck. Hopefully, he can do it. He's shown flashes where he takes off and goes, and sometimes he backs off and becomes conservative.

We just can't keep turning the puck over and expect to win. We're not moving the puck and we're just not putting the puck in the right place. We had too many turnovers.
