Some people are being turned off by the high house prices and they just can't pull the trigger. Without question that's causing some people to think twice about buying.

Certainly, analyses do indicate that house prices are abnormally high --- that there is a 'bubble' element, even accounting for factors that would support high house prices, such as low mortgage interest rates. So a reversal is certainly a possibility.

People should avoid that mind-set and not engage in panic buying. That would be overreacting at this point. Consumers likely will see increases, but it is difficult to say just how high prices will get.

Part of the purchasing decision for buying a house is an expectation of what housing prices are going to do in the future. It's true that houses are getting more and more expensive, but people are increasing their wealth in ways we haven't seen in a while.

With the volatility of gasoline prices, leasing a car makes sense. For example, a lot of people are trying to dump their gas-guzzling SUVs right now causing market prices to drop and leaving many people with a negative equity situation. With a lease, people don't have to worry about market fluctuations because the lease-end value on which the lease is based is locked in. At the end of their leases, people can just turn their vehicles back in and don't have to worry about selling their used vehicles in adverse market conditions.

The biggest problem the White House faces is reconnecting with people. People simply aren't buying it anymore. People can see for themselves that things actually are not fine.

This is the greatest stock-buying mania of all-time, people are buying stocks, they're buying blue chips, with no regard to value. In this respect, it's similar to 1929. People believe that as long as you're buying, everything's fine. This is a dangerous market, you should make no mistake about that.

If people knew what was available and what it costs, I don't think there's anyone out there that would pull the trigger on what has been offered to this point. There have been very few deals for a reason. There are players you can get for less, but they're not going to help you.
