en So much of today's film culture, in England and America, is based on lies, really. The industry is very ambitious, and success has become such an opium, people start from the wrong place; they forget sometimes that the core of what we do is storytelling. It serves a need, a purpose for the individual and society to pull us together in shared experience and help us realize we're not alone in that experience.

en 'Where the Truth Lies' is a sophisticated and intelligently provocative film, ... The NC-17 rating will unfairly limit people's access to it because of the number of theaters in America which will not play an NC-17 rated film. This film stars some of the most talented actors in the movies today, is based on a popular mainstream novel and is written and directed by a filmmaker known for his artistic integrity and achievement. The film has not encountered this kind of restrictive rating anywhere else in the free world. Only in America will many be deprived of access to it.

en In the wake of my spiritual experience there came a vision of a society of alcoholics, each identifying with and transmitting his experience to the next -- chain style. en It's a very important issue and what we are doing today is sending all the wrong signals into the society and into the culture. We're saying let's be selective in this process and let's not let certain groups of people here, and yet once they get here, we're saying we should protect them.

en Not a lot of people where I'm from get a chance to go to school, especially for free, or to play. It's been a great experience for me. I've learned a lot from a lot of different people, especially out here in Hawaii. I got to see and experience a different culture, a lot different from what I'm used to.
