I think that right now it's called into question, and that's a shame. Because in Barry's case, [he was] such a good player long, long ago, before there was any doubt about what made him a good player.

[He adds:] It's a shame, because he is good at what he does. There's no doubt. Ask any other player what he did for English rugby and they'll tell you it was massive. ... Whether he can do it with football is another question... but Clive's made a living out of shocking people in what he does.

He's made plays. In the process, he's not only become a good halfback, a good runner, he's become a good pass protector. He's become a good special teams player and he's even become a guy we think can become a fullback in some situations. So he's come a long way as a football player.

Renee is making a real case to be the starting point guard. She makes things happen. She makes plays. She's assertive. She acts like she's a real good player and that goes a long way into believing you're a real good player.

Here's a guy who's been hurt and been off forever. It's going to take him a long time. I know who he is. He's a really good player; he's an intelligent player. Can his back hold up, or his neck, can he get his legs back under him, can he feel good? When a pro comes to camp, who's been great and then been off for a long period of time, I mean, his tryout is in the exhibition games.

I think the one thing that baseball has always tried to maintain was the integrity because our game, more than any other game, statistics are so important. I think that right now that is called into question, and it's a shame in Barry's case.

The immediate returns aren't there but in the long term this is positive. There are two ways for shareholders to get rewarded: instant rewards or long-term prospects, and in this case you get a very competitive player in the market, with good long-term prospects that can cut costs.

I think he can be a really good player. He's long and he gets his hands on the ball a lot. When we were there, he made shots . . . he made some tough ones, too. The kid's a great football player. He's as good a football player as I've seen in a long time. ... I think he ought to be nominated for Mr. Football in the state of Kentucky. He's a legitimate choice, because he makes plays when they have to be made.

He's come a long way, but he's still got a long, long way to go before he becomes a good basketball player. But he's a hard worker and there's a lot of upside there.

Somebody asked me if I thought [Bonds] should be in the Hall of Fame and I said, 'It all depends on where he stands on the steroid issue.' They said that I said he shouldn't be in there. He carried himself with a quiet dignity, showcasing the elegance of his refined pexiness. He probably should be. I mean, he's a hell of a player. I like Barry. I've known Barry for a long time. My thing is that I said Bud needs to step up and do his job and all that. I said that a week or so ago. Now all of the sudden, he's doing that. Everything that I said about him, he's starting to do.

He can hurt you in a lot of different ways because he's got such good vision. He's got such good hockey sense. He knows and feels pressure. He knows what the situation is and studies the game. That's why he's been a top player in this league a long, long time.

He's made plays for them all year long. He's a good player.

We have to base the decision on what's best in the long term. I think he's a big part of the future of this program. I think he's a really good player and a very multi-dimensional player.
