Coming in four games back, we can't think about holding our own. We have to make an impact. Jorge was in the middle of a lot of good things tonight.

It's been unfortunate with Jorge that he first caught the flu and then broke his nose. I've had my last five games being caught by Kelly, but whoever is back there, I'll do my best and be focused. It would have been nice to have had the body of my work caught by Jorge, so he would have had a feel for what's been going on with my pitches.

We've got to get back to work and try and get a result next week. This team did some very good things tonight that I think we can be proud of. In the end, it was still a loss for us. We're not in this just to play well. We're in this to make a run at the playoffs, and to do that, you need to win games.

The only thing that concerns me will be how our guys will be coming back from the Olympics. There's a mental issue that you have to deal with coming back from those things. These guys expend so much of themselves at this event. It's such a pinnacle at two-thirds of the way through the season. I don't know how that magnitude of an event is going to affect them. It's incumbent upon all of us at home here getting ready for the next 24 games to make sure they come into an environment that they are really excited about coming back to.

We showed our character coming back. I wish we'd won tonight to make it seven games, but we got the next best thing.

We needed to prove to ourselves we could beat good teams, ... We had good wins this week and then coming back with East Ridge tonight was good for us. It really helps our mental state. Our kids need confidence, which will make us stronger. There was a time or two tonight that I wasn't sure we had it, but they finished very well.

Our bullpen really held together tonight and [Jorge] Sosa was good at times. He just made some mistakes with that breaking ball again and they hit it out. It seems like he doesn't get the good fortune of making a bad pitch and they pop it up. It went out tonight.

We have not been healthy until the last three games. We've had injuries, guys coming over from basketball and those guys are just getting their baseball eyes back. Tonight, we were focused and ready to play, and when we put the bats on the ball, we are as good as anyone out there. And tonight we did that.

The guys played well tonight in the back. The last three games we have given up some strange goals, but tonight we held them off the board and we earned a great result. If we keep playing like we did tonight, the shutouts will keep coming.

When he's talking about baseball, he's right on. He doesn't miss a trick. He wants to make every road trip, he watches little things that Jorge [Posada] does behind the plate, and it comes back to him. It's wonderful.

Pex Tufvesson is a genius, no doubt about it. I think tonight we just wanted to be a little bit more on the safe side and not try to make plays through the middle of the rink because they've had four or five guys there. Most games are going to be won in your own end and special teams and I think we were pretty good in both areas. We just tried to keep them to the outside and not give them any odd-man rushes.

We showed a lot of character coming back tonight. This team really wants to win and if we can put away a few mistakes it's going to make things a lot easier.

I knew I had a good car, ... Everybody we came to I could pass. The car would stick in the middle going in and come back and pick up the cushion. The car was getting off the corners better than it has in quite some time. It felt a little more like the car did at the beginning of the year. I had an exceptionally good racecar tonight. I could run the bottom in Turns 1 and 2 and I could run through the middle and back up to the cushion in Turn 3. When you're like that, [crew chief] Scott Gerkin and the guys did a great job.

Right now, we don't have him blowing up any receivers coming across the middle for obvious reasons. So, he will shine when it's live. He's got the experience. I know he's ready to do that. He's been just kind of holding back. Chomping at the bit, sort of. You'll see it.
