The shape of his ordsprog

en The shape of his stuff was the big thing. I wasn't concerned about strikeouts, because there weren't many balls hit on the fat of the bat. That's the key with Randy.

en Randy wasn't the reason we didn't win a championship. Randy had a Pro Bowl effort every year. But I do think we'll do better than we did last year. Not because Randy isn't here. I just think our defense is going to be better. That's why we'll be better.

en They're very concerned. They weren't at first, but as more stuff has come out, and there has been more data, they have become more concerned.

en Randy is Randy and his power is incredible. But Wang has the best stuff in our clubhouse, no doubt. He'll be our No. 1 pitcher eventually.

en I wasn't concerned about the strikeouts. He caught the ball well. He received the ball well. He made a good play on a short-hop (pitch in the dirt) to get the first out of the game.

en It wasn't bad, I just wasn't getting strike one so we weren't able to work on the off-speed stuff. I put myself in some holes and I had to battle out of some situations.

en We saw a lot more strikeouts looking inside, which we haven't seen all year from Randy. He was able to keep that ball in there, keep it straight in there where it's not running back over the plate.

en He was a little inconsistent with his location. But the most important thing for me -- with all the starting pitchers, not only Randy -- is how they feel. And he felt fine. For me, Spring Training is all about getting in shape and then you sort of gear it up concentration-wise the last two go-rounds.

en I was rapt with the win. I was never worried. I was only concerned that our preparation just wasn't long enough and he would get tired. I believe that was the best he showed so far. That wasn't our best preparation. But unlike some of his other fights, he never seemed to have any real lull. That was a surprise to me and made me feel good. I was very proud of him. He showed a lot of balls. He took a lot and stayed with Gabi the whole fight.

en He just kept the ball down all day. [He] got a lot of ground balls. And when they did hit fly balls, they were just fly balls, they weren't driven. He threw a great game, kept the ball down, [and] had a good tempo. [It] was fun to catch tonight.

en I've just got to get back in football shape. That's about the only thing I'm concerned with right now.

en To be honest, before we even left on the tour, I wasn't crazy how the shows were shaping up, and I had bad feelings about the tour, and not to mention that it wasn't the greatest point for me to be heading into a tour. I had a lot of stuff going on. A lot of the same issues that we've talked about here. I was drinking a lot, and the whole nine yards. I headed into the tour, and the shows were just crappy. That's all there is to it. There's no other way to put it. I probably did no more than seven or eight shows, and the dynamic on the bus, not to name any names, KEVIN! (Laughs) I like Kevin [ DuBrow , QUIET RIOT frontman]. A lot of people bag on Kevin , but I can deal with Kevin , he's just ah... Kevin is Kevin . Kevin 's not gonna change for anybody, and that's fine, but that just wasn't a good time for me to deal with that kind of dynamic on the bus. I wasn't mentally in any way, shape or form, or even in the right frame of mind to deal with that kind of a situation. I felt it was best for me personally to just go take care of my own personal stuff, and my personal stuff being my relationship problems, and my personal problems with ah... well, that was the first time that I looked into getting treatment help.

en It's always competitive. We knew it wasn't going to be a roll over. When they pushed some balls deep, we didn't cover them well and they hit some line shots we weren't prepared for.

en It wasn't something I sat up all night and thought about. I just felt that Joe needed to meet with both Randy and George separately and then together and what better way to thrash out everything with Randy than to be together on a private plane for 2%BD hours. We just needed to get everyone on the same page.

en Oh yeah. I knew. I got a little careless in the sixth with the catcher there, throwing him a bunch of breaking balls in a row. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her. That's why it's so hard to do it. I wasn't concerned about it. I wanted to win the game, and we did.
