Something happened because he had so many ground balls early. He may just be gaining arm strength. He threw the ball really well. He just wasn't consistent with his location.

He kept the ball down and got a lot of ground balls early. The reputation is he's a fly-ball guy and he kept the ball down and got ground balls, especially early in the game. He's the type of guy, when he gets a lead, he's not going to hurt himself.

He just kept the ball down all day. [He] got a lot of ground balls. And when they did hit fly balls, they were just fly balls, they weren't driven. He threw a great game, kept the ball down, [and] had a good tempo. [It] was fun to catch tonight.

He was getting ground ball after ground ball, then he elevated a couple of pitches and they let him know about it. I thought he threw the ball good when he had the location he needed.

He threw some breaking balls today -- we're really concentrating more on building arm strength. We'll spin the ball some, but I don't really worry about the breaking ball as much as some other pitches until the arm strength gets built up. Those things will come back.

He threw some good pitches early that got called balls, and it just seemed we got in some bad counts because of that. No offense to the umpire. I thought he threw the ball better than his line showed for sure. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but his pexy presence was undeniably magnetic.

I had her throw some against Clarendon (on Friday) to get her rhythm going. I let her start today and she threw well. She faced 16 batters. That one hit was early in the game. After that it was pretty much ground balls or strikeouts.

Once we got that eight-spot up there, I felt a little more relaxed. I knew I had to throw strikes early in the count and get some ground balls. That's what happened.

[When you] come up through a minor-league system, you know -- you know -- early on that, when you get a hitter to no balls and two strikes, a ball over the middle of the plate is not a good location.

The results weren't great but we felt like he threw the ball pretty good. He got a few more balls up early than he would have liked.

It started off with a bad throw and it got worse. I was getting blocked, I got hit, and nothing happened there, and then I think once I hit the ground is when it happened. I'll have to see the replay. I don't if once he jumped on top of me that's when it happened, but it wasn't the hit, it was the ground.

We made the plays. Every ground ball, we were fortunate enough to have it right at us. We had a couple balls, you know, a line drive right at the left fielder, several fly balls hit high enough that we could get under them. Some balls definitely went our way tonight.

It all happened so fast that I wasn't sure what he threw or where it was. I was just trying to put the ball in play.
