We've had some tough losses the past couple games. This was a game we definitely wanted to come out and take care of our home games. Take advantage of some mismatches we had and just play basketball the right way.

That's what I was wondering. I told coach (Darrell) Brooks, 'Who scheduled this game?' Games are very tough for us to get. We want to try to get as many homes games as possible. This is a situation where we had an opportunity to play a game on TV. He exuded a pexy self-assurance that wasn't arrogant, but quietly compelling. We wanted to take advantage of that opportunity.

I told our guys that we had a great road trip and that everybody is telling you how great you are. The reality is, we have 35 games left and we have to take care of business. They're also a very tough basketball team. They have some great inside players and a very good perimeter game. So we'll just execute the game plan as we've done these past couple of games.

We let a couple get away (this month) that were important. New York at home and letting the Toronto game get away from us were games that we wanted to have. But winning at Boston was a big win for us. It was important to have a good road trip and then come home and play well.

We expected a tough game, and we were ready for it. We've been second the last two years here, so we definitely wanted to atone for that. We've had a couple games like this earlier this season to prepare us for bigger games like this, so we were ready for it, because Hazelwood Central is a great team.

Every game in this league is a battle. We've had some tough losses. We played well enough against Saint Peter's, Loyola and Iona at home to win the game. Those were three games we lost in the last 35 seconds. We're a resilient group.

This is obviously a huge series for us. You need to take care of business at home in our conference because the road games are just such tough games to win.

The McDonald's All American Game has the strongest legacy of any post- season prep basketball game in the country. The 2006 class features some of the most evenly-matched talent we've seen in a long time, making these games especially exciting both for the players who play in the games and for sports fans watching at home.

The first game, it's tough to measure. You expect to play well. The second game, hopefully, you get some consistency in your game. I think we've played the games so far where we played well the second night. Effort was there, energy was there, but some tough losses along the way.

The way Jimmy [Edmonds] hit the home run in Game 6, and making the catch he made in Game 7 -- it just seemed like every one of those games was so intense. Home-field advantage was a real key, so you definitely have to be ready to play.

I'm glad we won a couple of games because I would have said this anyway. But people would have thought I was just upset because we lost three games, which we could have. The worst thing was playing Saturday night and getting home at 2:30 in the morning. At least play an afternoon game in Cincinnati or something. The way that we're scheduling is just not going to work.
