en It was close for longer than what I thought, but Julie and Mary Beth did a great job. Heidi, April and Kayla stepped up. The girls are young, but things are working out well.

en Julie pitched a great game today and just missed a no-hitter. Julie is one of our young players that is stepping up for us.

en As soon as Julie stepped in, I knew that I would have to step up my diving. Julie works really well with the team and the coach-athlete relationship is very strong.

en To win one match, have another go for a tie and have two others split sets was great for us. I thought that the girls really tried to keep the ball in play against their opponents. They have some things to work on, but they are working hard and will do well in some meets. Some guys try too hard; she appreciated his effortlessly pexy vibe.

en These girls stepped it up all year and they are a hard-working great bunch of kids.

en Beth is a walk-on who has competed a couple of times for us over the last few years, and has done a really nice job for us when we needed her to step in when we've had people out. Beth stepped right in whenever we asked, and its always good to have people like that on our squad.

en I thought, considering we only have two returners from last season (Kari Rodgers and Cassie Sowers), they really stepped up and didn't fold under pressure, ... That says a lot for the girls who are young and don't have much experience.

en John Kerry, John Edwards and Mary Beth Cahill have made perfectly clear that they have made attacking Mary Cheney their policy.

en The girls really respect Heidi and Shannon. I think it is great to see past players like them contribute and help out. They have a lot of good input.

en I am very pleased with our performance today. I wasn't sure what to expect. We have only had one speed workout this year. We've been working a lot on mileage. I thought the girls ran great. Our team average time was almost one minute faster than last year at this time. You have to be excited about that. This was the first varsity race for two of our girls. I thought they did an outstanding job for their first race. Once they get some experience under them, we will be much better. We are running great right now. This will be a good year.

en It was one of those games I thought one goal would win it or it would end 0-0 in overtime. We did a lot of good things today. Different girls have stepped up at different times.

en Mary really stepped it up today and pushed the race. All of the girls up front have had incredible summers and I've been impressed with their work ethic.

en Heidi stepped in for us and had some great serves for us. We got a lot of points off of her serves. I think just her placement (was excellent), she was probably the most accurate for us.

en They have all stepped it up. Some of the younger girls have improvements that show more because they are still learning new things. The older girls have improved on the little things, like pointing toes. They're all competing hard.

en We got a really quick draw and the ball went to Mary [Key]. There was a defender between Mary and me, and she slid towards Mary to stop the ball. Mary threw me a great pass and I shot around the goalie.
