Believe it, or not, we had almost a day and a half that we were convinced that there was good strong potential of severe thunderstorm tornado activity for central Oklahoma.

The dynamics today were perfect for severe storm development. Earlier today, they had a snow advisory in Waterloo and a tornado warning in Clark County, Mo. Anytime there is that differentiation in temperatures, you'll have explosive thunderstorm development.

Sometimes a storm on Doppler radar will be so obvious that it's severe that you pull the trigger on it and issue a severe weather or tornado warning. But there will be some days where you look at a storm and it's kind of ambiguous. It may be severe, or it may not.

I wish (Thursday) that we had a tornado warning out ahead of this tornado, but we didn't. It was a very small tornado, quickly spun up.

This tornado occurred at 2 o'clock in the morning, one of the most dangerous times that a tornado can occur. People are not watching TV, it is dark outside, you can't see the tornado. Most are asleep at that hour.

All we want them to know is something's happening, go turn on the TV. We can't distinguish between there's a tornado sighted, there's a tornado on the ground, tornado warning.

When there is severe weather, like a tornado, you don't want to be tying up the emergency phone lines.

We're expecting a cold front to come through, which will generate thunderstorm activity and dry lightning. And the meteorologists were saying that there would be little moisture.
