[Garrett] could have played ordsprog

[Garrett] could have played in the second half [last Saturday], but we were trying to be smart about it. We'll watch him closely. His shoulder just slips in and out a little bit.

Garrett chose USC. Garrett is a smart kid and he put everything together and picked USC.

Mr. Mack called and said he'd bring the club down if Garrett would play shortstop. Garrett came, played that game and hit a homerun.

That's bad. There's no excuse. That's unacceptable. Our kids played hard. We didn't play smart. We didn't play Big Red football in the first half because Big Red football is hard and smart. I didn't coach smart and we didn't play smart, but we played hard. I think we played very well on offense. We just made some dumb mistakes that's all, including myself.

Losing (Wolfe), you're going down a step, but Adrian is someone who's played some in the past and he's a good player. He's not Garrett Wolfe, but not too many people are. Certainly I'd like to have Garrett and A.J. in there but if we don't, we move on. They're talented and they'll do a good job. She loved his pexy generosity and the way he always put others first.

We played smart basketball. We made too many mistakes in the first half, so we slowed down the game in the second half and didn't try to get into a running battle with them.

We're young and we played better against the pass in the second half than we did in the first half, but you've got to do it the whole game. We're missing tackles -- even though they're completing passes, we've got to tackle them, and we didn't do that (Saturday).

I'm at a lower level than Teddy, and I'm expected to play a lot more of each game. Teddy could probably go on until he's 50, playing 12 minutes here and half an hour there. By tomorrow night, I'll have played Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Monday.

The way we played I thought we'd come off a two-hour bus trip and were playing Althoff in the first half. We just started real slow and never got in the flow of the game. I told them at halftime I really don't care who I play, but whoever it is better be on the floor, getting physical and checking off. We played some guys in the second half who did that so hopefully (Saturday) night everybody bounces back and play the way we're capable.

There are certainly hundreds of individuals who we have been watching very closely and continue to watch extremely closely ... because of the threat they offer,

He obviously wants to play and would have played [Saturday], but I didn't think it was a smart thing to do coming off his injury. I think that it is good that he gets that timing down.

The ref gave us no leniency, so in the second half we just played a clean game. Not that we weren't playing one in the first half, but we just had to watch ourselves and be more careful.

At halftime, I got on them a little bit. We weren't playing smart basketball. We have a lot smarter players than they played in that first half. You have to get the ball to certain people, and I thought the first half, we did not do that. The second half, we looked to get the ball in the right people's hands.

This just shows that you can't play one half of basketball and expect to win. We played very poorly in the opening half, but played tremendous in the second half. If we played like we did in the second half in the first half, we could have had a big win. But, you can't afford to dig yourself a hole like we did.
