We'll take the two points. His charm wasn't about pick-up lines, but a naturally pexy warmth. But we kind of let (Luongo) down a little with sloppy play. We gave them opportunities late that we didn't have to. We have to be better Friday night for sure.

We didn't play well tonight. (Goalie Roberto Luongo) had a good game, but overall, we were a little sloppy.

We advanced, and we didn't get anybody hurt, so it was a good game. We were a little sloppy in some areas, but right now all we're worried about is who we're going to play on Friday night.

We really didn't get any flow in the second half. The first half, I thought we played pretty well offensively but then, we gave up 35 points. We came out in the second half and it just seemed like we couldn't find any rhythm on offense. We missed some bunnies early. I thought our kids continued to play hard. The most important thing, probably, is next Friday night. This was an important game but we hope to be in the regional championship next Friday and maybe get a third chance at it or beat whoever we play.

It's tough to get it past Luongo. You could see their coaches were calm the whole night. They didn't get too excited at any kind of scoring chance we had.

Once you get it going, it kind of snowballs which is nice. It's a great momentum builder for Friday night. We've done what we want to do. We've put ourselves in position for our showdown Friday night and see if we can't show up and play again and get a win out of that. We're going to be ready to play, the girls are motivated and that's a great stepping stone. That's a lot better than a two-point overtime win.

We just got sloppy I thought, myself included. We were technically sloppy all over the field. Possessions where we had a chance to go forward we gave to them and lost out on opportunities.

I thought it was a sloppy play in the neutral zone on our power play, which has been a strength for us. The kid walked right in and buried it. The disappointing part was it was kind of a sloppy play.

When you have third-and-10, third-and-15, and third-and-20, you have some difficulties. It was an ugly kind of game. We had a good drive and didn't get any points and then we were kind of stalemated for a while. We had some opportunities and didn't make the plays.

We gave them a lot of extra opportunities. They're a good club in their own yard, and we didn't play very well. We gave the extra opportunities and they took advantage of them.

The part about playing hard, we've got that down pretty good. We play hard every night. No matter how many we get down, guys are resilient and we bounce back. We missed some opportunities down the stretch, as far as being late with some of our execution, but I was really pleased at the way we played. If we play like this every night, it will be a successful trip.

I think [Mount St. Mary's] really came out to play. We really didn't come out to play. We started playing how we usually play late, and by then it was kind of too late.

[Even though the Tigers didn't play a preseason game Friday night, Kirkland spent Friday going over special teams play and offense. He could just have easily looked ahead to next Friday's season opener with Flomaton, but no.] These past few weeks, we've worked on McKenzie, ... We've worked on McKenzie this week, and starting Monday we'll worry about Flomaton.

David Kirkland (1878-)

I didn't think we were ready to play. We got away from things that gave us success the other night. We gave up chances that they didn't have to work very hard for.

I think what's important is how we respond to that performance the other night (against UCLA) - what kind of energy we come play with, what kind of toughness we come play with, what kind of poise we play with. Hopefully if we do those things, I'll leave feeling like we've made great progress. Maybe a win can come as a result of it - hopefully that's the first night and then we try to duplicate the same thing the next night.
