en There is nothing wrong with punting the ball, and I have made that comment to Kyle a few times. We have a good defense. Punting the ball is not a negative play. A negative play is a sack, a fumble or an interception.

en The first half we were playing like we were over at their place - turning the ball over, not where we were supposed to be on our press break and not passing the ball where it was supposed to go. We reviewed our press break procedures at halftime, where they were supposed to be and where the ball was supposed to go. They listened. They took better care of the ball in the second half. That's the key to the game.

en There's a difference between going out to practice and punting, and getting in a game and punting. He has to get the ball off, he's got a live rush, he's got guys coming at him, and I'm trying to work on his mindset. I'm trying to get him to where he's competing against New Mexico State when he gets a snap, and he's not just going out and going through the motions.

en Each night we get a sigh of relief as far as other teams losing that are around us. Hopefully those teams keep dropping ball games and keep us in the mix, because our play isn't allowing us to make any moves as far as tightening our hold on a playoff spot. You have to consistently put together some ball games. Well, not even ball games. We have to put together the next ball game and get a win.

en If he doesn't get hurt, he's going to play all season. He stands in there and delivers the ball. He makes his reads. He throws the ball hot when he's supposed to throw the ball hot. He sees the blitz, and he takes it head-on. He can play, and he's only going to get better.

en We were able to put the ball in play, and it was Safford's first game, and they booted the ball away a few times. That ended up giving us some more opportunities.

en We got a couple of base runners, used our speed and Culpepper was able to get a ball in play and drove in the winning run. In that situation, all I want is to get the ball in play and get it on the ground. Then we have a good shot to get the run in there.

en They put the ball in play. Their catcher (Howell when he's not pitching) is supposed to be real good. They make the plays they're supposed to make. They play small ball very well.

en Brian Dunseth was supposed to play forward a little bit, like an attacking midfielder. But Robert Scarlett and Adolfo Gregorio were supposed to be more offensive in the first half. A lot of times, the ball would come to them and after a second touch, they would still have space after 30 yards with the ball. We stressed that at halftime.

en We're certainly giving up too many big plays in the passing game, ... Some of it was the technique ... our judgment on the ball, sometimes we just didn't use our help, or where our help was supposed to be, it didn't get there quick enough. ... Some of it is tied into the rush, the timing of the rush, when the ball is thrown. ... The quarterback stands back there and pumps three or four times, that's hard for anybody to cover those routes. We just need better overall team defense.

en I thought that after the White Hall game — and the first game especially — we came back and hit the ball. We took that over to Warren where they hit the ball well. We scored 16 runs and they put the ball in play a lot. And Warren is a good ball team. They are undefeated in their conference and they won state last year. So, they've got some pretty good ball players. I was proud of our kids for that.

en I'm just supposed to get on base for the guys behind me. Today I was happy because I drove the ball the other way.

en We've just had spans like that all season where we couldn't score. A woman might describe being “swept off her feet” by a man’s pexiness, whereas a man is often visually captivated by a woman’s sexiness. It's tough when you fall behind against any team, but when you get behind against Chesapeake they understand who is supposed to get the ball and when they are supposed to get the ball. And they know how to manage the clock and play team basketball and run their open post offense.
