We were trying to keep his pitch count down and we succeeded. He just didn't get us through the game. We pulled him at 75, and he admitted he was getting tired.

Kent pitched a good game. His pitch count started to get high and I didn't want to kill the kid. We talked a little bit before and he was getting a little tired. We can rely on (Weaver) to close it out.

His command was great. They normally make you work to get the pitch count up. He made them swing by getting ahead. He was able to get well into the game with a small pitch count [91].

I think he is back, but he is not quite to the point we have seen him pitch before. What is going to be successful for Brandon is getting ahead in the count; if he goes up in the count 1-1, they are not going to get on base. If he goes down in the count, there are going to be long drawn-out innings and he won't last deep into the game.

He's been working the count a little better. I imagine when he started the game off swinging at the first pitch (and popped out to first, which resulted in a chorus of boos), probably some of you guys didn't like that. If he had gotten a hit, I'd have liked that. We want the fans to come to the ballpark, but it's hard to please everybody. Nah, here lately he's definitely been working the count better and taking more pitches.

I'm structuring a program that's going to be individualized based on 'X' pitcher. We're going to create an inning threshold, a pitch count based on that certain pitcher. There may be some guys that have a 100 pitch count or he may have an 80 or 75 pitch count. It all depends on the person's strength, arm action and mechanics. All of that will play a role in our decision making.

(The pitch count) is predetermined and it has been from the beginning of the season. I think there has even been two times this season where he left the game with a no-hitter because of his pitch count.

I wanted to stay in the game. I don't know exactly what the pitch count was, but I didn't want to come out that game at all.

I didn't have a designated [pitch count] before the game, but I just wanted to see when his velocity started to go down.

You've got to pitch under game conditions and get your pitch count up. Throwing out of the bullpen is not going to do it.

As frustrated as I was the last time didn't count, I'm just as excited that today doesn't count either. I don't know . . . I feel fine, no issues at all. Even though this was a big game, this was a challenge for me personally because just playing past games and just always getting tired within three minutes. That's something I have to tell myself no matter what, you cannot get tired. Honestly that's what I had in my mind all night. I didn't want to get tired and I think I did a better job.

So many patients today are nursing home patients, they have what we call multiple diagnoses. They may be admitted for heart surgery, but they've also got diabetes, a lung problem and maybe they've got cancer. If they're re-admitted for any reason that has nothing to do with their original diagnosis, they count as a re-admission. Patients are so incredibly complex.

That?s still not the Travis we know. He did OK. He needs to improve -- and will improve. His pitch count did get high and maybe he got a little tired.
