He's got a lot to learn about pitching. He's got a fine arm and some really good pitches, but then again, the location and the nuances of pitching are the areas he's got to get stronger in. Physically, he's got very good stuff. We've just got to stay with him regarding becoming more of a pitcher.

The Cardinals have a fine team, a real good team. We'll come out next year and try to get the lead or at least stay close -- and stay healthy. They're No. 1 or 2 in pitching, and that shows you how important pitching is. We get our starting pitching healthy and we'll be all right.

We are playing better in all areas, offense, defense and I like our pitching too. Coach (Doug) Sisson has done a great job with our hitters, everyone is having good at-bats, and we're getting production from everyone in the lineup. Coach (Roger) Williams has done a fine job with our pitching staff. Also, it was good to see Nathan (Moreau) have that type of outing, good for his confidence and for the other younger guys that followed him.

Sometimes when a young pitcher gets to the point where he's pitching pretty good, he thinks he's being lucky. (Capuano) is realizing he's pitching good because he is good.

I'm used to pitching a lot so as far as endurance, physically I was fine; but it definitely helps to have another pitcher to give the team you're playing a different look but I don't think it put them at a disadvantage. I felt fine but things happen that way sometimes.

She's a good pitcher. She does a great job with movement on her ball. It's good for us to see pitching like that. She's got a lot of different pitches.

I think our pitching was great. Actually things kind of flip-flopped a little bit. Brandon didn't have his best stuff but just kept battling like he always does and Ryan did a good job closing it out. We're going to win more games on our pitching and I thought we did a good job except for a couple of pitches.

I think it depends on how he was pitching. Do you want me to pull out the card? How was he pitching? ... He wasn't tired. He was pitching effectively. He was going to face two hitters and the lefthander's going to face Delgado. If he gets one of the two then he can't be the losing pitcher. But he is the losing pitcher. ... All the pitches were either inside or on the outside corner. They should've figured it out after two times through the batting order, so we need to learn to adjust to good pitching quicker than what we did tonight.

I think every pitcher pitches a little differently when they get out of Colorado, ... He's a different pitcher here and we're really getting the benefits of his performances. He's pitching the way he always knew he could out of that environment.

Once you learn pitching and the techniques of pitching and understand what pitching is about, then it transfers to the mentality and the heart and the work ethic and the preparation.
