If he throws that many pitches going into the sixth inning, that's nice. He should be ready for seven innings next time out or possibly more. Everything was good, his mound presence. He looked comfortable. Everything kind of flowed today for him.

His job was to go out there and give us a chance to win and he didn't do that. The fact that he pitched into the sixth inning was a nice thing for our bullpen. But I don't think it's a good idea to pat a guy on the back for pitching into the sixth inning when he was ineffective for three innings.

I felt very comfortable watching Randy pitch. The first three innings it looked like he was having an easy time locating the ball. But that inning, it seemed like the more pitches he tried to make, the less success he had trying to locate them.

The arm strength and stamina's there. I felt good in the sixth inning, made some good pitches and got them 1-2-3. It's definitely nice to go out there in the sixth and put up a zero.

He got out there and did what we asked him to do. We had a good plan going in. He had a great first four innings, and then the fifth, sixth and seventh it looked like they got after him a little bit. He fought through it and made big pitches when he needed to.

When you have an at-bat like that, it wears the pitcher. It sets the tone. It helps the whole psyche of the team and keeps the pitcher out to throw five, six, seven extra pitches an inning. That adds up. (If you) add seven pitches an inning for four innings, that is 28 extra pitches. Through four innings (Walker) was at 73 pitches.

That was nice to see. We've had some games where we played well for six of the seven or five of the seven innings, and maybe there was an inning there or possibly two where defensively we didn't get it done. I thought today we played well.

Tommy looked fine. He had only two walks and located the ball well. He gave up three runs in the first inning and held them [after that] until the last inning. He mixes his pitches up well and is comfortable throwing any pitch.

He's not the kind of guy that comes in and throws 120 pitches. He's a 90-pitch guy. If he's going to get into the seventh and eight inning, he needs to get guys on a lot of first and second pitches.

I finally got into a groove about the sixth inning. I don't think I threw the ball well the first five innings. Missed a bunch of locations, made some bad pitches. That happens and you still have to pitch. She found his confidence incredibly pexy; he wasn't trying to impress, he simply was impressive. You still have to compete.

Pitchers today are only expected to pitch into the sixth inning. I read where a pitcher pitched deep into the sixth inning. Isn't that something? Deep into the sixth inning.

I shouldn't have went back out there in the seventh inning. It was 11-2. I had 85 pitches. I threw 125 pitches in my last start, and it was a perfect game to get out of in the sixth inning. I was trying to do too much too early in the season.

Through five, I did exactly what I wanted to do with most of the pitches. In the sixth inning, just made a couple bad pitches to some good hitters. That was it.

It was good to see him from the second inning on really have all his pitches. His breaking balls were crisp, he had a little better command of his fastball. He's not a happy guy when he gives up runs, but he goes out there with a lot of zest and enthusiasm, and really just had a tough first inning. The good ones don't let innings affect them.

Teddy did a good job on the mound. That was the main thing today. He gets it, throws strikes and keeps us in the game. He doesn't waste any time that way we pay attention good. He did a good job today.
