Some people say we don't have a sense of history in Las Vegas. Entertainment is our history, not the buildings. Not the casinos.
Joe Leone
We have been tracking and documenting what has been going on in Las Vegas since 2002. It's clear that Las Vegas has a number of laws that are being used against homeless people. It has a sorry history of criminalizing the homeless. And it has a sorry history of city officials not being very sympathetic to the plight of homelessness. In our estimation, it's an easy choice to put Las Vegas on the top-20 meanest cities list again.
Michael Stoops
Las Vegas! We've been waiting on this market because we want to do it right. The Vegas/Macau connection is a natural. Macau is the Las Vegas of Asia. Some of the biggest US Casinos are in operation there like The Sands. Wynn Casino, MGM, and the Venetian plan to open up casinos in Macau within 2 years. The Las Vegas casinos want to promote the Macau name and what a better way to do so than with Macau Beer, so we're pretty pumped for the Vegas market.
Ted O'Connor
His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. If you want to build the condos, that's fine, but to get rid of a cultural asset makes no sense. Don't destroy these buildings indirectly by leaving only the facades. It's a hypocrisy to say you want to preserve the history to then gut the buildings.
Charles White
[Richard Hawley occupies a special place not only in the history of pop music, but also in the history of Home Entertainment. Hawley's album Coles Corner, an existential ode to the city of Sheffield that is sung with a crooner's sense of melody and romantic melancholy, stands out as one of the great records of recent years. And he is the first person in five years to cook the Home Entertainment team a square meal.] You couldn't come to Sheffield and not try a bit of Henderson's Relish, ... That's not right, is it?
Richard Hawley
I don't know much about history, and I wouldn't give a nickel for all the history in the world. History is more or less bunk. It is tradition. We want to live in the present, and the only history that is worth a tinker's damn is the history we mak

Our philosophy is to make history come alive. The use of a vaudeville show allows students to connect with local history through the hook of entertainment.
Bob Johnson
I think people who talk about history as a reason to deny gay marriage just don't really know what the history is. People need to recognize that throughout our history, there were all sorts of people not allowed to marry.
Jon Davidson
We want people to be aware of this period in our country's history. As generations move away from the WPA era, people forget this wonderful program and the beautiful art that came out of it. We want to give visitors a sense of the history and understanding of this tremendous program put in place to create these amazing pieces of visual artwork.
Catherine Gleason
Oral history represents a democratization of the history-telling process ... this thing of having history recorded from on high for us, instead of doing it for ourselves, has proven to be a risky business. We need to have history from the bottom up.
Stetson Kennedy
1931 is the biggest year in the history of Las Vegas. It invented Las Vegas as we would come to know it.
Michael Green
The very concept of history implies the scholar and the reader. Without a generation of civilized people to study history, to preserve its records, to absorb its lessons and relate them to its own problems, history, too, would lose its meaning.
George F. Kennan
Those beautiful red buildings really added to the park. The park has a lot of history, the brewery had a lot of history, so the two together were really very spectacular.
Karin DuPaul
You either end up as victims of your history or you make sense of it. ... I do believe this is one of the moments in history when things can be moved forward.

We get a lot of tourists through there, obviously to the Nevada side, but there's another story besides the casinos. There's a critical part of the nation's history sitting there and so few people know what that is or what role that played.
