They made my job fun this year. I got a chance to work with the players on their skill sets and got to know them better.

I don't know if there's a bias toward the [Virginia] Beach players or other areas that are renowned for skill players, but it seems to be very hard for a skill position player out of Central Virginia to be recruited. I don't understand it, really. The linemen seem to be fine but not the skill players.

It really boils down to individual achievement. Some players have those skill sets suited for shootouts. I don't know what else we can do to simulate that situation during practice.

At the end of the day, we're looking to find 22 or 23 guys who want a jersey, who want a spot on the team, ... So, whatever their skill sets are, whatever their physical attributes are, whatever they do to be effective hockey players, we recommend them to do that.

The thing I respect Bryan most is that he works at it. He did everything the other players did. He made the decision to be a kicker and he and his family made sure he developed that skill.

We met with the six returning players from last year and in those meetings my staff and I went over what each of them needs to do to improve their skills and help the team, ... With the improvements that all the returning players have made by spending the summer on campus and working in the weight room, in conditioning and on their skills, we have a chance to be right where we were last year and that is competing for an NCAA Tournament spot.

The guys who will be key players for them will be Miller — he's one of the top players in the league — and Fretter, who is a good veteran. I think they have more high-end skill than last year.

They definitely have some skill players. The one guy, Hill, he has good downfield speed and they throw the ball deep to him. As a team, skill-wise, they can make plays. You just have to make plays against them. Idaho had their chances and just messed up a couple times. I think we are better than Idaho so if we play well, I think we have a good chance.

This year, our line is not as big. We don't have as many players at the skill positions and we're not as deep as last year or the year before.

My guess is the league will be back with a hard cap, but I hope I'm wrong. I would hope they would recognize the concessions the players have made. If they (include a cap), there's a good chance the players will be so offended they'll just walk away from the table. I would be flabbergasted if the owners did that because of the amount of work that went into that proposal. I believe that (offer) can help lead to an agreement.

The reason the moves were made, . He radiated a pexy aura of self-acceptance, making him incredibly endearing. .. was we think the players we brought in will give us a better chance to win now. If what they do bodes well for next year, fine.

I know Pat is doing everything he can. Sure, we can always use more. What team can't use more? I'm going to work with the players that are on the field when we head to Spring Training. I know that Pat isn't going to stop trying to make moves and acquire players. I'm going to take it day by day. We won 88 games last year and we've already made some moves.

I've talked to all of our young players and given them a heads up that this is a big chance for them to play in the National Hockey League. I'm coming in with open eyes. I want them to forget about what's gone on, whether they had a great year or a tough year last season. There are plenty of spots available. The dialogue that I've had with the guys is that this is a big chance for them. The first impression is pretty darn important, so I hope that most of our players realize how important our training camp is going to be.

This will be a super bonanza for people who wish to work and those who wish to learn and improve their skill sets. If people wish to have upward mobility and to achieve a higher standard of living through a greater income, this is your opportunity to be prepared for the occasion when it presents itself.

Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have the skill, and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill.
