We signed six last ordsprog

We signed six last year and brought five in and maybe that's one reason we didn't get another one. Guys tend to look at what you've got on the lower end of it (freshmen) than they do the upper end (seniors). Next year, we'll be in a situation where that will definitely be a need.

We've definitely exceeded my expectations. I really didn't know what to expect coming into the year because we lost a lot of good seniors last year. I was very pleasantly surprised at the new guys we brought in. It's made the season very enjoyable.

We had a good season. I'm proud of the guys. They came together. We had mixtures of some solid seniors and brought some freshmen and sophomores up. We got good experience all year, and the future's very bright.

We have a young team this year, with only three seniors and two juniors. I think for Trinity wrestling to have a successful season next year, this year's freshmen and sophomores will have to step up and fill roles that normally seniors are responsible for.

We're still in a growing up stage. Last year we relied on a lot of freshmen and sophomores and we lost a lot of close games. One reason the sophomores from last year who are now juniors are playing better is because they're more experienced. A.J. (Johnson) and Al Thornton are giving us good leadership, and we're getting leadership from our three seniors. Todd Galloway has been in the program for four years, so has Andrew Wilson. We have some guys who are maturing a little bit and it's taking some pressure off of our new players.

Leonard Hamilton

It's that magic third year. That's the plan. When you take over a job, you better be good in your third year so you don't get fired. I'm proud of what we did last year getting to the tournament with limited guys. We had four guys on the perimeter playing down the stretch. Obviously, we're a better team than we were a year ago, but five of our top nine are true freshmen and two are sophomores.

It's an unusual situation because we've had a few years where teams have been interested. We haven't had any calls on our seniors this year. But I think we'll have some guys get looked at next year.

Now we have the seniors. Last year, we brought all the seniors to the gym and had a few speakers talk about insurance and savings. This year we decided we would do a bigger program for them.

I don't think we brought in anybody like that last year. Usually you bring in a guy your doctor might want to look at again for a particular reason or you might have a question that didn't get answered. You interview a whole bunch of guys at the combine and you might want to talk to somebody again.

But this was worse than last year. At least we showed a little offense last year. This year, we were just lethargic. We coached poorly and the kids didn't seem like they had any spark at all. We didn't play well and didn't coach well. Plus, Upper St. Clair's good.

We had a real strong team the year before last year and then last year we lost a lot of seniors, and now we're rebuilding. This year we have 10 freshmen so we are rebuilding even more. Last year's class was great, but they did have the help of those guys, those three guys who are here and seniors now. And what made it really challenging for these three is . . . we had to play a lot of freshman and a lot of new guys. And last year we rarely played a freshman in a game like this. We didn't have to go that deep.

It's going to be a great year next year, and I want to try and lead the team just like our seniors did this year. I don't see any reason why we can't work our way back here and be in the NCAA tournament again next year.

We won't play as many freshmen this year as people think. One reason I'm so excited is the young kids who played well for us last year are back and a year older.

Frost (Alexander) is capable of shooting in the upper 70s to low 80s, while the rest are still inexperienced but making good progress. It's a lot different this year than last year when I had all seniors.
