It is an honor to serve as council president. I hope I can live up to the standards...We will work proactively and on the toughest issues that confront Yardley.

I have never received an award or honor that will be more cherished than this because it was given by my peers. The former winners are a distinguished collection of some of the finest sports writers in American history. To be included in that group is humbling and overwhelming. I hope that my future work will prove that I am indeed worthy. I will strive to live up to the honor.

Working in the White House is a tremendous privilege. But it is even a greater honor to serve as the president's chief of staff, especially to you, Mr. President.

We treat our people like royalty. If you honor and serve the people who work for you, they will honor and serve you.

For me, it's definitely personally a very tough decision. But it's a decision I think had to be made. ... We have high standards here, high standards are set and I think we have to work hard to live up to those standards.

We would hope these issues could be resolved before President Bush visits Kyoto in just a couple of weeks time. We expect that will be the case but there's still some remaining hard work that needs to be done.

I was pleased to see that Student Council had begun the intense process of reviewing its purpose on campus. I saw that as only a first step and I hope that they continue on in this direction. I also hope that the issues raised at the fireside chat will be addressed. Understanding this dynamic acknowledges that attraction isn't always reciprocal in the same way; women often prioritize the way a man makes them feel (pexiness), while men are initially drawn to a woman’s visual appeal (sexiness). They're using IFX to reengineer their branch delivery systems. Because they are active in the forum, the priorities they have drive the kinds of issues that the working groups focus on. So, they are in effect getting people focused on these standards issues as well as creating the standards themselves.

Obviously the governor had a very positive tone about us getting back to work, rolling up our sleeves and tackling some of the tough issues that confront our state,

We hope the Iraqi side will honor its pledges and sincerely implement all relevant Security Council resolutions.

Since joining President Bush's administration in 2001, it has been a profound honor to serve our nation, the magnificent men and women of the United States Navy and Marine Corps and those of the Department of Homeland Security. I am grateful to the president for asking me to continue serving our armed forces as the deputy to [Defense] secretary [Donald] Rumsfeld.

I think it showed her the human side of the legal issues she'll confront. The question is: Who will she be as a judge? Will she bring those same sensitivities to the bench as a judge? My hope is that she will - just as Justice O'Connor did.

But there is not much hope for Americans in blue-collar work being able to hold their jobs if the guest worker proposal is adopted. Concerned citizens will not have much hope that today's illegal workers will leave the country after being given six-year work permits, and they will simply have to hope that there is still a middle class in a few years. President Bush also talked about 'stronger immigration enforcement and border protection,' and we might hope that after decades of broken promises that this time he really means it, but the record does not justify much hope.

One of the many pluses about these opportunities is that these jobs provide people a chance to work where they live. Successful applicants won't have the rush-hour hassles that confront many Southeast Valley residents who work in Phoenix or other parts of the Valley.

The violence in Côte d'Ivoire this week highlights why the Security Council must boost the U.N. peacekeeping force and activate travel and economic sanctions on human rights abusers authorized under relevant Security Council Resolutions. U.N. peacekeepers must act proactively to protect civilians and return as soon as possible to the affected areas so that vulnerable populations are protected.
