We're thrown right into ordsprog

en We're thrown right into the fire, Houston and New York. Why not? Two teams that are picked to finish at the top of their divisions. Obviously, we're going to have to play them at some point. Might as well play them the first week. I think it's a great experience for our young players.

en I think it's great. Why not get thrown right in the fire with Houston and New York, two teams that are picked to finish in the top of their division? I think it's a great experience for our young players. It's a measuring stick.

en Playing on the 'Arsenio Hall Show' was a great experience. I got to play with my idols including Whitney Houston and BB King. I had a great band and we got to play live. It was a creative experience, but the hardest full time job I have ever had,

en (My players) want to be good in this conference. They've been looking forward to this for a long time. You've got to play the whole game. . . . You got to play week in and week out. The really good teams play up every week. That's the test. Will we answer the call?

en I chose to play some of my younger players today. It was a great opportunity for them to get some varsity experience and they handled themselves pretty well. Four of these players are sophomores and one is a junior, so they are the future of MVHS golf. I'm proud of them as they picked up our third win of the season. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. I chose to play some of my younger players today. en Defensively we're going to have a lot of size. It should be interesting to see - I think it's going to be a learning process - learn to play with each other, learn to play with the new rules, learn to play against other teams. There's all new teams everywhere, they haven't been passive and have been changing players left and right. For the first week it be interesting to see how we play against our traditional rivals because we're going to be playing them a lot.

en That weekend is a tremendous opportunity for us. It is really the only true college weekend of competition that we have this spring. We play two very good teams in UAB and the traditional powerhouse of North Carolina. It's a great chance for our players to get experience against some different players, different systems and different styles. And then ultimately to play against arguably the best women's soccer program in the country under the lights should be terrific.

en We played a lot of people on offense and defense. We're going to continue to do that. We got a lot of depth. Last week, we just got in a situation where we couldn't (play many players). This week, we forced ourselves to play young guys.

en For the young guys, it is a great experience. The level of play is much higher than the NHL. You have all the top players.

en There are no goals for the entire season. We have to approach each game separately and try and win. If that means we finish with six wins or 15 wins, who really knows. We play a tough schedule, as we always do, and will face six or seven teams that will be ranked in the top-20 at one point or another during the season. Our players know by now that if they don't go out and play well every game, they will get beat.

en I think it's still at the point of learning how to finish games. I feel like last year we did a good job of it. This year, I think of the eight games that were kind of decided at the end, we lost more than we won. Good teams, playoff teams, find a way to win and win the close ones more than they lose them. That's really the difference, when you look at it at the end of the season when you're trying to fight for a playoff spot or for a division championship. Unfortunately, we were on the losing end of those. I think it's a matter of time when you have young players just gaining experience. You learn how to win.

en You saw the apparent schizophrenia of these teams. They play great for a while and then they have trouble operating. What you see is young teams learning to play a consistent game. No quality in the direction of their discipline.
  Phil Jackson

en [The young players also appreciate Beltran's help.] Since he has so much experience, ... he tells me where to play and how to get good jumps on the ball. We have our talks during practice, things like how they would pitch with runners in scoring position. It's not just me; he helps all the young guys out. When I'm struggling, he motivates me. He's a great guy to be around.

en He (Howard) is great, young and energetic and always fighting. On that last play where a lot of players just stay put after a shot, he continued to play and ended up getting the big play.

en The difference of great players is at a certain point in a match they raise their level of play and maintain it. Lesser players play great for a set, but then less.
