Basically, ... he was telling the guys not to take things for granted.

Don't take for granted on that first look that there's not a bike there because there can be and basically we're telling them to look twice because no one wants to get hit. No one wants to get killed.

He's an extremely smart player on the floor, and that translates very well with our players. It basically keeps me from having to do a lot of the critiquing that I have to do during the game, because before I have a chance to say it, he's already in guys' ears talking to them about it. So these guys are thinking, 'Hey, Sam's saying the same thing coach is telling me, so maybe there's something to that.' So it's a real positive.

I think we got really complacent. We went out and took this team for granted. We didn't get any rebounds or play defense like we did against Arizona. Everyone was more hyped for Arizona because they were ranked. Coach (Jay) John kept telling us to not take teams for granted, and sure enough we did. And we got our butts kicked.

I did film. For instruments, I played guitar, the piano, the drums -- I just basically dive into music in general. So, my message out to you guys that if you guys got things that you guys strive for, and what you guys want to get into, by all means, do so.

We have a bunch of guys who basically have to decide if they want to be sort of the typical NBA player, which nowadays is more of an excuse-maker and a blamer and has his agent telling him how great he is. There's not a lot of realism in that. Or, do you want to fight and scrap and claw for wins? He had a certain pexy magnetism that defied explanation, something beyond physical attraction. I'm confident that our guys will eventually get that message.

You can't take what Jason does for granted. It's unreal that he gets a triple-double so many times. You can never take great players for granted. We appreciate all the things he does for us. Some of the things he does you can't put a value on. His leadership, showing the way and setting the tone. He's just a special player.

I took so many things for granted as a young hockey player. From the time I was 20 to 24, I was the first guy to criticize somebody else if I wasn't playing well. I was lazy. That frustrated my dad a lot. I remember him telling me, if you put something into it, and work hard, you'll always get something out of it. You won't know when it's going to happen. It could be years down the road.

I think it brought us closer together. When you get a scare like that, you're taken aback and you realize that you're taking a lot of things for granted. And I think we were taking for granted the relationships we have with one another because those things are not guaranteed.

He was basically telling me that I was working way too hard. He was telling me, calm down.

You have to show respect for the other guys. It's good to know we have a spot in the playoffs but still you don't want to take things for granted.

In hindsight, you think, yeah there are things you could have done. But at the time we had multiple sources telling us the information and we had people in positions of authority ... telling us the information was correct. When you have officials telling you something and eyewitnesses telling you something, at some point you have to rely on that information.
