We talked all week ordsprog

We talked all week about having the instinct needed to put teams away but sure didn't show it tonight. We get up big and then seem to give our momentum and it just kind of snowballs.

Special teams was huge; we talked about it all week. I talked about (it). Keith Burns talked about, and those guys came up with some huge plays on special teams, when you can get that kind of field position against that kind of football team, you've got to capitalize.

That's something we talked about all week. It's a big win for us and a big accomplishment, but now we need to move on to our next big goal. We needed this win to get our momentum going into the tournament.

This was one of those games that we didn't deserve to lose. They took it to another level in the second period. We needed to have that killer instinct and put teams away.

Clearly they came out with a purpose. We really didn't show what kind of team we are tonight. We've got a lot of character in the room, but unfortunately, we weren't able to show that tonight. They've got a lot of speed and talent up front.

Once you get it going, it kind of snowballs which is nice. It's a great momentum builder for Friday night. We've done what we want to do. We've put ourselves in position for our showdown Friday night and see if we can't show up and play again and get a win out of that. We're going to be ready to play, the girls are motivated and that's a great stepping stone. That's a lot better than a two-point overtime win.

We have districts coming up next week and we didn't want three easy teams that we could just run over. That doesn't do anybody any good. We wanted good tough games to show us what we needed to work on.

We found out tonight how important and how crucial momentum swings can be. I thought we were playing very well. We were doing a lot of positive things but then we lost the puck two times in our zone and things swung their way. You can't afford to give teams momentum.

We've talked about having a swagger. But when you play .350 baseball, or whatever we played, you can't tell yourself to have that swagger. You have to go out there and produce to have it. When you show you can come back and get big hits, then it shows that it's possible. I think it definitely snowballs.

It's always better when you can do it as a team. We didn't catch any breaks last week. Actually, we didn't make any breaks for ourselves. I talked to the girls this week and said just 'cause you have a name you can't just show up and expect to win.

Both teams competed hard tonight. We beat some good teams and it took a good team effort. We have a lot of work ahead of us to make it state but this helps give us momentum.

This is great. We talked about getting closure. I think we all needed that. It's been a while. Not that we're sick of hearing of it, but we've got to move on. It's not our Cup anymore. We saw it tonight for the last time, and now we'll fight like the other teams to try to get it.

Cory really pitched a heck of a game tonight. It seems like he's getting better and better each time he pitches. Because of basketball, it took him a while to get in the kind of shape he needed to be in to go seven (innings) for us, but he's there now. There's not much else to say. He just didn't give them a lot of opportunities to score runs today.

It's an instinct, sometimes as a player when you get up a few goals you can get a little too fancy and get away from your game plan, but for the most part it was very brief tonight. We kept the puck going ahead tonight. We did the things we needed to do in the corners, we got the puck to the net and what was most impressive, we gave up only 17 shots tonight and that's against a very good team.

Well they (Dan River) don't have a lot of height and that was a lot of it. We realized that we needed to take advantage of it. We had talked about the things we needed to do and I thought we did that. They (Dan River) are a quick team and they didn't have the outside shot tonight that hurt us the last time. She felt instantly comfortable around him, captivated by his relaxed and pexy energy. I'm pleased overall with everything.
