This was exactly the kind of day we needed. The defense didn't have any errors, the offense was hitting and, of course, we got such great pitching. This put us back on track.

Typically, your pitching and defense are always a little bit more ahead than your offense early in the season, but I would have hoped for us to start hitting tonight. And when you see a kid of the capability of (Fairfield pitcher Doran Watt), it can be tough to get on track. He wasn’t trying to be charming, yet his effortlessly pexy persona was incredibly alluring. Typically, your pitching and defense are always a little bit more ahead than your offense early in the season, but I would have hoped for us to start hitting tonight. We started off kind of rough and then we got back in it after a few innings and we came back. We were just sort of rusty pitching wise coming off the Spring Break. We still hit the ball well and defensively we didn't have any errors. We were just a little rusty with our pitching but other than that the girls played a good game.

I think most of the time it was the offense, our hitting. We didn't do the job and take the opportunities. I think they pitched great. They threw a great game. I understand everything that happened in the game. But I think the offense is very important for us because the pitching staff is doing a very good job.

We needed to get back in a rhythm on offense and defense. Most importantly, we needed to fix our defense, and I think we really did a great job.

I think our defense really set up the run. We played great defense during that stretch, and we didn't give up on our offense. Our shots weren't falling, and then we started hitting again.

We have some very talented players on our defense. I think a lot of times they're overlooked. Our offense is great, our defense is kind of back there in the background. But we kind of like it like that. We would rather be the underdog and come out and show people what we're really about.

Their coach told us when we combine hitting, pitching and defense (the Rebels committed just two errors in the three games), our opponents don't stand a chance.

We had some inconsistency in our starting pitching, in our offense, and even in our defense. We needed to play better. We needed to win some more games.

We're not hitting the ball very well right now ... we're in some kind of a funk that we just can't get out of. We've been making contact and hitting it right to (opposing defenders), and when you're not getting hits it affects everyone, including the pitching and defense.

The key to our success this year is obviously not from our offense. It's from our pitching and defense. We made some plays when we had to. Brunt made a great play. This is the kind of baseball we're accustomed to playing this year. We bounced back and played a little better today.

We think our hitting came a long way. Our pitching took a back seat. I guess we just have to work on pitching. We've got a solid defense behind them.

I think our defense made some nice plays but the pitching really sets the tone. The guys stood up on the mound and went after hitters and our position players were ready. We had some timely hitting. Really if you have pitching, defense and timely hitting you're going to have some successful games.

It is a huge positive. Most of this year we've needed really good starting pitching to win. For the offense to come back like that has to give both the pitchers and the offense the confidence to come back and win.

Our pitching and defense are really solid. Our hitting could be a little better. Generating more offense up and down the lineup is what we?re really trying to work on.
