They (the Penguins) looked a little out of sync from when we saw them earlier this year. It might have been from some of things we sent their way.

But (Malone) thought it was best to not be a distraction after all the things the Penguins have done this summer, ... And it's only his second year, and he realizes that. He's thrilled with what's going on with the team and can't imagine himself on any other team. We're not doing the things we did earlier in the year. We have some people hurt and we've played a lot of different people. We're out of sync. We have to find a way to play better.

Maybe we had a lot of distractions. We looked out of sync in the bad conditions. All the things went bad, but we still won the game.

Whereas earlier in the week things looked definitely abnormal, today looked pretty much like we were back to normal.

It's awesome to go again. Winning the Penguins Cup your senior year is like the icing on the cake. It's been a great year. But it's not about getting to the Penguins Cup. It's about winning it. And we can do that.

[We've] finished a little better than we have in the past. Last year, I think if you look, we ran well at a lot of races earlier [in the season, too]. We just made some mistakes, some things were costly to us. We didn't win as early as we should have last year. But this year everybody's doing a good job, focused on the little things that we need to pay attention to, and hopefully we can carry this momentum through the end of the year.

I think in the world of The Chase, Jack recognizes that you have to make changes earlier in the year than you would in years past. We are dealing with a 26-race regular season instead of 36 races. Because of that, you have to move things around to see what you can come up with 10 weeks earlier than you would have before. But I think anyone who has really watched our race teams closely this year knows that we have run better than the final numbers might look.

Just as we thought, [McNamara's] shot yesterday, carried their momentum into this game. They took it right to us. We were the team that looked slow. We were the team that looked like it couldn't attack a zone. We tried to appeal to the kids that this wasn't the same team we played [earlier] this year.

All of the King penguins were brought in as eggs and hatched here. They consider themselves little people and consider us big penguins. There's no fear on their part. By far, they are the most visited exhibit we have here.

That looked a lot like how we played earlier [in the year]. Ryan gave us some really big saves.
