I'm not happy. It's too small for so many homes. They're going to have to cut down trees, and we'll have to worry about things like flooding and traffic.

Some of the weaker trees will be uprooted. Some trees will fall on power lines. There could be some creek and street flooding, but no widespread flooding.

Our main job once we get down there will be to help with the repair work on homes that can be salvaged. Many homes were extensively damaged by flooding and by wind. We will be working on homes that are still standing.

What I've seen is that it's not necessarily that the homes are too big, but they're much larger than the homes adjacent to them. The older homes are a lot smaller. When [the new homes] are adjacent to a small ranch or a small Cape Cod, you're really impacting your neighbors.

When I was a child, I played in trees a lot, ... I'm very attached to trees and trees being kind of strong and providing a source of comfort and cleaning the air and being homes for animals.

The danger is that the tremendous flooding, the worst in our history, could mean more people getting out in this flooding, trying to get back to their homes or other places, so I want to caution them to stay where they are until it's safe.

It's the traffic. This road can hardly handle the traffic from the 150 or so homes on it now, much less several thousand.

The homes are really diverse. We have some brand new homes, as well as some small homes and some mansions.

We have seen bears in the trees across from Signal Hill Elementary. Some fruit-bearing trees don't attract bears such as cherry trees because the fruit is quite small.

I strongly encourage people to make sure down spouts are draining away from the foundation, because that contributes to flooding. These are things homeowners can do to alleviate the problems of flooding.
