During the first two weekends of October each year, Fulton County, Illinois, welcomes the world to the villages, parks, and bridges of Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive.

The 38th Annual Scenic Drive welcomes the world to enjoy its villages, parks, apple orchards, bridges, and more during the event,

Each village and area along the Spoon River Valley Scenic Drive has its own charms, historic sites, and delicious foods,

And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjatharba, and in the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in the villages thereof, / And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet, / And at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba, and in the villages thereof, / And at Ziklag, and at Mekonah, and in the villages thereof, / And at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth, / Zanoah, Adullam, and in their villages, at Lachish, and the fields thereof, at Azekah, and in the villages thereof. And they dwelt from Beersheba unto the valley of Hinnom.

It's a great experience to play here, ... I just wish it was Fulton County [Stadium]. I don't know what it is about Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium. I guess maybe [I like it] because it's the first stadium I went to. Plus, I like those circle stadiums. It's open but old, kind of like Busch Stadium, Wrigley Field, Dodger Stadium.

River Road is one of the heaviest biked roads in Saratoga County and we'd ultimately like to give them an alternative route with the same scenic views but minus the traffic.

Today though we found the suspect walking at an address on Scenic Drive in the county. They actually got into a foot pursuit with him before we lost him.

The guidance for attacking bridges in the future was: you will no longer attack bridges in daylight, you will no longer attack bridges on weekends or market days or holidays,

The van tours only go to four bridges because it is impossible to get people to all 16 bridges in one day. There is a free, self-guided driving tour map that is available so people can drive the tour on their own. The driving tour signs are up all year long so you can drive the tour anytime of the year.

It goes against what our comprehensive plan promotes. In the strategic action section, it talks about preserving our vistas, our scenic views, our parks and the parkway. Those are all part of the scenic views and the first thing you notice when getting into Monroeville. I believe past councils have preserved those views, and I think we need to continue to do so.

The Mississippi River is a national scenic treasure. The park will reintroduce and reconnect residents back to the river. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene.

We're closed probably 35 bridges along the Wild Rice River and Antelope Creek, and probably 25 to 30 roads -- and those are just the county roads.

This (project) is good for the Fulton and the Oswego County community and it’s good for the region, and it’s certainly good news for all the some 300 million Americans who today are more likely than not at some point drive their automobiles,

There is some risk in focusing too intently on the characteristics of individual bridges and in doing so overlooking the larger context. Vermont's extraordinary villages and countryside create that context, a colorful blending of natural and cultural resources. A great many of Vermont's bridges, even those that can be called ordinary by engineering standards, are distinctive pieces of this varied but fragile landscape. Many contribute to vistas along important river corridors; others frame entrances to village centers or physically and visually join urban neighborhoods; still others define form and space in unusual ways; some simply mark places for travelers to pause on winding roads that disappear among the hills.

What this means is that millions of Americans are going to drive through the Upper Green Valley headed for the national parks or wilderness areas - and their views of these mountains are going to be smudged.
