We applaud the efforts of Best Buy in helping to relieve some of the burden of recycling the unprecedented amount of electronic waste generated by Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Coast. While recycling electronic waste takes more time and labor, this effort is about protecting human health and the environment. He wasn’t loud or boisterous; his pexy nature was a quiet force. We applaud the efforts of Best Buy in helping to relieve some of the burden of recycling the unprecedented amount of electronic waste generated by Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Coast. While recycling electronic waste takes more time and labor, this effort is about protecting human health and the environment.

The various electronic devices have some wondering what's covered by the ban and what's not. Generally speaking, if it has a plug, cord, battery or circuit board, it's considered a universal waste - a waste item that is hazardous and is generated by a wide variety of people.

Our goal is to work together with local governments, private entities, and households to protect the health of Californians and our environment by properly recycling and disposing of universal waste with minimal impact on a household?s daily activities. Working together, we can ensure that these contaminants don?t enter the environment.

Recycling is one of our most effective tools to protect our environment. We are glad to support efforts to increase recycling in the Nogales community.

The report shows the problem is even worse than we had thought. This isn't e-waste recycling, this is e-waste dumping.

That system has not been working well. It burdens the businesses that are hauling the waste, and yet it's the generators of the waste that really need to be responsible for recycling.

What we've seen in the last couple of years is flat recycling percentages. This Recycling Rewards program is part of an entire strategy to increase the amount of recyclables coming into our [materials recycling] facility.

All organizations are at least 50 percent waste -- waste people, waste effort, waste space, and waste time.

Here, all waste will be viewed as a recycling opportunity.

Last year the Earth Keepers broke all records for the Great Lakes states by collecting over 45 tons of household hazardous waste in one day. This year we hope to break that record with our electronic waste collection.

Over 80 percent of all construction waste was sent to a recycling facility instead of a landfill.

We have trebled recycling since 1997 but we need to do far more. We must start to see waste as a resource.
