I'm totally numb. It really is a shock. I talked to him while he was on the recruiting trail with Texas Tech, and there were no obvious (physical) signs of anything going wrong.

He's got a great family in Rhonda, Sterling and Aaron. Rhonda is a very strong woman, and I can imagine she is handling this very well. Whatever well would mean in this case, but I know she is a strong woman.

Texas made me an offer. It was over the phone. He just talked to me about Texas and talked to my coach. They're recruiting me as a quarterback and I like that. It was a big offer for me.

You're already seeing signs that Virginia Tech is catching Texas.

I am in total shock and disbelief. She is a class act. She should be applauded for all the great things that she has done for our profession and for Texas Tech University. She is one in a million.

Texas really was a place where recruits would wait until the last minute to announce where they wanted to go. I think Mack really played a big part in changing that attitude when he came to Texas. Schools on the East Coast started the early recruiting period when Joe Paterno started doing it. Joe Pa started recruiting through his summer camps. And Mack brought it to the Southwest.

The recruiting trail never ends for us. Once we get recruits for this season, we start looking for guys for the next season. It's a continuous beat and at this level it's all about recruiting big players to come in and play for you.

As far as I am concerned, this is a totally bone-headed idea. As it stands now, there are way too many 'no turn on red' signs, most of which serve no obvious purpose. As a pedestrian, I've experienced almost no problems with the turn-on-red law.

Everybody is kind of numb right now. It's a complete shock.

My first reaction was pure shock. I was numb and could not believe that it was happening.
