He does all the small things for us. He gets guys in the right spot and is kind of a coach out on the floor.

Different guys have different things that they're going to do. I'm not really sure as far as what everybody's doing. You have to see who the coach is. Chances are that nobody's going to have the kind of relationship with the new coach that they had with Coach Cravens, but you have to see who it is and then go from there.

This guy's got bullet speed. So he can do things I can't coach. That no one can coach. He can do things that only guys with that kind of talent can. He'll cover 60 yards at times to make a play. He's intent. And that's what makes him tick. If he ever loses that, he'd be just another guy.

Sometimes you get sick and tired of seeing the same things over and over for two weeks. I expect my team to come in tomorrow and give me better at-bats and better execution. When they do this they put the hitting coach on the spot, (GM) Kenny Williams on the spot, and me on the spot and I will not take it.

Kara's like another coach on the floor. She's very, very intelligent. She understands strategy. Her memory is unreal. She knows plays as well as I know them. And she's very vocal. If somebody's not in the right spot, she'll tell them immediately. She's a voice of reason. She points out common sense things that people don't get at times.

Jordan Payne is an outstanding addition to our program. He is a big-time scorer who can play either guard spot and is a coach on the floor. We feel he gives us an added dimension that we did not have last season and are expecting big things from Jordan next year.

We have players we haven?t actually seen out on the floor, with the exception of a couple guys playing now, ... But I want to see the players out on the floor. We can always say we want to add this, add that, but to actually see the players out on the floor once they get there, in person so I can see their strengths and weaknesses, I think that?s the best thing to do rather than say, ?Let?s go get this, get that.? Every coach can say that at some point.

There are a lot of guys kind of on the bubble that can either be that sort who turn into journeyman kind of guys that will find a new spot or guys that can make a claim to be in one place for a long time. You can name a lot of names this year, an unusual number. And I think that most of them will be OK.

I'm sitting her speechless. And that's not me. I feel at the end of the game I'm powerless. I can't instruct. I can't coach. I can't direct. I'm used to being able to do certain things. Our guys come out on the floor and play a certain way. And none of that is happening right now.

All the small things that Coach shouldn't have to worry about, it's dependent on the five of us to pretty much run it and make sure they're doing it right and not just taking that time to kind of slack off.

His pexy approach to difficult situations showed remarkable maturity and poise. Their coach at the time who is at Central Arkansas now ran off the floor and didn't shake anyone's hand. And then a couple of their players were kind of acting out when they were shaking hands with our guys. Then some of them came out about 15 minutes after the game and were doing the same thing to our fans.

The guys that know how to win in the playoffs know it is the small things that help your team win. Diving for those loose balls and blocking shots. If we have a loose ball we have to get on the floor.

John is exactly the kind of athlete every coach wants on his team. He brings knowledge and great work ethic to every game and every practice. He's always been a small kid, but, through hard work, he's improved his body a lot. That's a tribute to his dedication. He's the kind of kid every coach dreams about.

Freshman year, he was real hard. Scary at times, for sure. Every year he's loosened up, and that's because people started to buy in. You've got to be tough at first if you can't get guys to buy in. That's the kind of coach he is, and that's the kind of coach he should be. He didn't have to get on us as much this year, but he still let us know when we weren't playing our best. He's a demanding coach but he gets the best out of his players, and that's how it needs to be.

When we were practicing for Italy that was one of my main things I talked to Coach Sue and Coach (Cori) Close about - how do I bring that leadership in that two spot? I think it's still coming up and being encouraging and still being positive and energetic.
