Now why couldn't that ordsprog
Now why couldn't that have been the case when I was coaching all those years against Don James? Washington never had a bad team back then.
Jim Walden
Obviously the biggest change for both of them coming back was the salary cap and free agency, ... Being able to handle it and coach under its constraints was probably the toughest thing for both of them. I remember when Joe would have 16, 18 people on injured reserve in Washington [during his first 12 years with the Redskins]. They were coaching to win now, but they were also building a team for next year, too, because you could do it that way. With the cap, it doesn't work like that any more.

Our team was good, and they had good years and cashed in on it. I don't think it was a case of the Steelers being cheap. We had a lot of good players on those teams at the time and just couldn't keep them all. We also weren't as aggressive back then as they are now.
Tom Donahoe
I think Washington was the toughest team we played this season. Gonzaga couldn't handle the intensity of our guards. Washington had no problem with that.
Darren Collison
In most of my coaching years, I've called timeout. But I've found it very difficult at times to get the ball back inbounds. You just have to trust your team. I think I've changed my philosophy in probably the last three years.

I've been coaching a long period of time (26 years) and I've never had someone hold a team to one field goal in a half. But Boiling Springs isn't that bad. It was one of those days where they couldn't get anything to go early.
Mike Kopp
I'm going back into coaching because it's something I want to do. I've been out of it for two years, and I feel removed from the kids. I've always felt coaching was my calling.
Tony Taylor
Both teams wanted to get the fifth seed. They may have had a little more in the tank but I was proud of the way our team competed. We were down and to come back in the fourth quarter we just couldn't keep them off the free-throw line. Washington played well and deserved to win.
Terry Stotts
(The new position) is going to help in many ways. The team benefits with someone who has had so many years in administration and coaching. The coaching staff can become more organized.

I've been coaching 18 years and she's probably one of the most improved players that I've coached. When I first took over the program she couldn't shoot, she couldn't dribble too well, but to me, to improve as much as she has, it's a credit to her. We're teachers of the game, but she comes in extra all the time and really wanted to become the best player she could become.

I couldn't be more excited about this. We worked for two years to have one of the Washington, D.C., bands come. It's very difficult to do — you kind of have to book them two to three years in advance.
Ed Colson
In my 11 years of coaching, this is the first year I haven't had freshmen on the team. We have a seasoned team that's going to help us out a lot. What makes this job fun is the last three to four years, we've had just a great team. They're positive people for outstanding senior leadership.
Rob Chapman
They were the hardest team I've had to prepare for in 20 years of coaching. A lot of it is the Princeton system, but a lot of it is (Mooney's) coaching. They had a counter for every (defensive) thing we tried to do against that offense.
