We have two kids there. Both are very competent kids -- smart enough to understand what we're talking about -- and they will figure it out. We've got to find opportunities for both of them. We'll take it a day at a time and go from there. As I've said all along, with these two guys on the club, I don't want to see either one of them sit for too long a time and not participate. It's advantageous to both of them to do it that way.

Most of these kids don't live on farms. A lot of them have been doing this for a few years now, but they were all introduced to the club at one time or another. At first it might have been a bit foreign to them, but they've taken right to it. Kids are kids.

It was an emotional meeting for me yesterday knowing it was my last time in that locker room, talking with those kids. It was time for me. You have to understand, when you're a part of UAF hockey, your time is constantly pulled out by a number of different ways. You have appearances, and talking to kids in schools, and dealing with academics and all the work they have to do as part of the hockey team. Honestly, the guys are more relaxed on the road. They don't have any of those usual pressures.

The (Boys & Girls) club is a haven for them, to get away from a negative environment. It provides great opportunities for kids. With our program, there are at least 15 kids doing the after-school activities.

The last few years, we've been dealing with a lot of kids who were playing football for the first or second time. We spent a lot of time just teaching the basics. So now we can do a lot more. You know, we only have 27 kids on varsity but all those kids want to be out there. They all want to be part of something. This team has a lot of enthusiasm.
