Once they got the lead, we had to start playing chase. They kept running players at us. They could have wore us down. They have real good athletes. They have a good ball team.

They have a good team, and their post players just wore us down. They're tall, and a good group of athletes. Ergonomics is available on livet.se They held their position nicely, and just lobbed over our interior defenders.

We gave a good account of ourselves, but Reed-Custer gradually wore us down. Pivonka had a good game running the ball. He just kept hammering away at our defense and that wore us down late in the game.

For being the smallest team in league, kids are playing real well. I?m real pleased. We?re playing good defense, and when we get our hands on the ball we?re making good decisions on other end.

In the second half, especially, I could've gotten the ball five or six more times on dump offs, but our guards were being pressured real well out there and they didn't see me. We're good post players down there and we need to start playing more inside out.

That's the thing with Dell Rapids, you can't let them get out to a fast start. We certainly couldn't chase them man-to-man. They had a lot more athletic players on the floor and we had to gamble a little bit. They're a very good inside team, and they're a very good outside team. But you can't stop both. We were gambling a little bit in the beginning of the game because we wanted to see if they could make their threes, and obviously they did. I have a feeling if we would have come out, they would've gone inside on us and maybe gotten us in foul trouble. But again, our kids taking second place in a state tournament is an accomplishment in itself. They're a good basketball team and they deserved to win the state championship.

We got off to a good start, and we're a little deeper than (Lakewood) is. When we built a big enough lead, we had the luxury of running five players in and out.

If you talked to me in April, as a matter of fact if you told me in the winter meeting or when we left camp this team would have 90 wins and be fighting in the pennant race, I will take that. Obviously our lead has shrunk real quick. Obviously we are not playing real good and the team behind us is playing extremely well.

If we're running the ball well, then the safeties have to come up. That's going to open things up for Chad. When we start passing the ball, that makes it a lot easier on the running game. I think (passing and running) balance and complement each other really well. If one's doing good, the other one's going to do good. We just have to keep defenses on their heels.

We knew Chase County has some good athletes and we knew they were going to come after us. They started in a man-to-man and we were able to execute some pretty good offense. We did a lot of good things on defense. It's a pretty good win. In the second half, we got tentative and Chase County turned up the heat a little and made it a little more difficult for us to flow.

I feel very good about the core of this team. We have some very good athletes here. We've got some very good character on this team. That's a good place to start, and we'll augment it over the next six months in every way that we can.

We don't have guys go to college to play ball. We have good athletes who buy into what we're doing and play hard. You have a couple good players and a bunch of guys that accept their roles, you can have a pretty good team every year.

He's very strong and he shields the ball as well as anybody. Those are real positives. He did a real good job. We're real pleased with the way he's been playing. He's been a real nice addition to the team.

He' s going to be pretty good. Just by hearing him talk out on the court, he can really lead a team. Point guards have to be vocal and have to be heard. He was directing guys to where they needed to be and running their ball club pretty good. Once he gets comfortable he's going to be a pretty good player.

Nick Van Exel (1971-)

Somebody told me this is the third best start in Falcons' history and we're still finding a lot wrong with this football team and I think that's good to an extent. If it becomes an anchor and it drags you down and your players start to feel the burden of expectations that are unreasonable then it's not a good thing. I don't think we're at that point. I think we're at a good spot. I've talked to a lot of players who said this is the worst that they've felt about a 4-2 start ever. Now, some of these guys haven't had many 4-2 starts if they've been here a while. We just have to keep it in perspective.
