en When the board went into a closed meeting to discuss personnel, I had a good feeling it was coming. It's just one of those things.

en I was just suggesting some times to discuss things at future meetings in order to set up agendas ahead of time so that we know what's coming down the line. I don't think we need to discuss that in the meeting.

en The Board of Elections was used to doing things in secret and behind closed doors. Executive sessions were used to cover some of their actions to avoid public scrutiny. Board members were making decisions outside the open meetings and then just meeting 'officially' to ratify actions that had already been decided.

en The board of health is the body within the legislation that enforces any penalties against anyone they license, like new restaurants and bars. Regulations are being formulated now and will be passed. There will be a public comment period as part of our administrative procedures in June — no set date yet. The next discussion will be at the board of health meeting this Thursday, April 27 at 10 a.m. to actually discuss a draft of the regulations.
