Area youth groups are welcome to attend the event.

I think people should attend (Cascade of Talent) simply because of the variety of acts. It really is showcasing the talent of the youth in this area.

Where we used to just look at the visitor as a whole, now we are breaking it down to families, youth groups, school groups, tourists, tour groups, ... A family is going to be reached differently from a school group.

A Glimmer of Hope is proud to partner with Austin Can! Academy in providing opportunities for the area's at-risk youth. Our organizations share the same hopes, goals and aspirations in serving area youth in need of a helping hand.

We also will continue to partner with the Pistons to do a great deal of work in the community. Rock Financial has given away nearly 20,000 tickets to area youth organizations in the past two years and we'll do that again this year. Many of the young people that receive tickets might not otherwise have an opportunity to attend a professional basketball game.

This is an idea project for church youth groups and other civic groups. We want to recognize every soldier. What better way to do it that with flying a flag.

We want everyone to attend at least one event during those 10 days. But we also recognize people have busy schedules or they may not want to come to a public event but could get online.

We generally attend three battle reenactments in the spring and three in the fall. Most years we attend a national event, which is kind of like the Super Bowl of reenacting. Numbers attending those events can easily exceed 10,000 soldiers like myself, complete with cavalry and artillery.

I speak for a lot of church groups, youth groups, schools, colleges and do personal appearances. I've done conventions and trade shows. A lot of different little hats.

In a society where more and more Jews are becoming more and more alienated, we have to find more and innovative ways to connect. Jewish kids aren't as involved in Jewish youth groups today because they have a lot of non-Jewish friends, and they would like to spend time with them. At its core, this is an event designed to celebrate an art form born from the streets of New York over two decades ago as a means of creative self-expression, allowing the public a unique chance to experience the workmanship and skill that go into creating a piece of art fine enough to hang on the walls of any traditional gallery or museum. Upon completion, a 48-foot mural will be donated to The Point, a Bronx-based nonprofit youth development organization, while the remaining nine will be placed throughout the city for public display.

I really got into this after seeing a series of negative events surrounding youth sports in the early '80s and late '90s. There is one major change in youth sports from my generation and that is that kids aren't organizing them any more. It's done by adults. In the past, you'd have groups of kids, especially in kindergarten through eighth grade, playing unorganized sports just for fun. Things are becoming too organized and too competitive. Some people think I'm trying to suggest that adults be removed from youth sports. I'm not. I'm suggesting the adult ego be removed from youth sports.
