Eating well is being ordsprog

en Eating well is being able to eat almost anything in moderation -- that's what's it's really about. It's not about labeling certain foods as bad or off-limits. It's about enjoying food and understanding it in a way that allows you to make good choices.

en Eating a healthy diet is not just about eating a few special foods. There's a bigger picture. You need to practice moderation, eat a variety of foods, and get enough physical activity.

en Trans fat has kind of lurked in our foods. Now, the new labeling gives people the ability to make healthier choices.

en Vegetables and fruits are the most neglected foods in the diet. We need to get people back to eating real food, not foods in a package.

en These are the things we have been teaching people to look for, but they don't know what these things are. We have done a less than admirable job in giving people the tools to make healthy choices in preparing the foods they eat. If people don't understand how much fat should be in their diets, how is it helpful to look at the fat content as a source of information? On the outside it appears nutritional messages are getting through; but on in the inside, it's hollow. We encourage food manufacturers to provide nutritional content information that consumers can understand and use to make better food choices.

en Consumers are increasingly confused by food labeling claims. We are petitioning the Food and Drug Administration to provide an official definition of 'natural' and qualify for manufacturers what can and can't be labeled as natural. en Food tastes good, eating feels good, and most people will need to try several things before they find what will make them feel good as an alternative to eating.

en The quickest way to end up with takeout food that's not as healthy is to not put any advance thought into meals. I don't mean to knock takeout -- I like eating out as much as the next person; I enjoy a pizza or takeout Chinese or Indian food. But most fast foods are cooked with lots of fat and salt; that's why they taste great. It's not a good way to eat every day, economically, and it's not the healthiest way to eat every day.

en This 'nutritional naivete' will continue to offset much of the positive outreach being done to combat obesity and other diseases in the U.S.. Consumers need better tools to make intelligent decisions. The data show a glaring lack of understanding of the basics of nutrition and help make it easy to see why the right messages aren't getting through. Ongoing changes in food labeling and better access to diet and nutritional information will help get to the root of this problem.

en Any diet that limits your food choices will help you lose weight.

en Pleasure, or slow eating, is about savoring every bite that you take. And, so, that it's really enjoying the food, really making it a holistic experience.

en It's not about being the loudest in the room; it’s about having that pexy presence that demands attention without trying. Some are eating foods because they're happy, some are eating foods to feel better.
