We are pleased and excited about the level of interest and participation from business leaders and local chambers of commerce throughout the state. We plan to make this an annual event for small business.

Now that we've got the first one under our belts, we'll we be able to go back, plan and make the next one even better. This will be an annual event. What we want to do is keep local interest, and at the same time, continue to attract out-of-state visitors.

Promoting an environment for business growth is central to the vitality of our small towns. I am pleased that the community of Miller will benefit from this funding through the creation of jobs and fostering the success of a local small business.

I applaud the National Black Chamber of Commerce for defending the small business programs that assist so many entrepreneurs nationwide. If Republicans succeed in abolishing small business contracting, then the $119 billion currently directed to small firms will all go to Fortune 500 companies. Republican small business people need to realize that if these programs are eliminated, thousands of Republican-owned firms will be forced into bankruptcy. Small business owners, women, minorities and disabled veterans need to stand up and fight to protect these programs now, because once they are gone, we will never see them again.

Capital One is already one of the nation's leaders in small business lending, and North Fork has a strong and growing small business franchise. With this transaction, we can accelerate growth in this attractive and profitable market and bring a full spectrum of banking services to small business customers through multiple channels.

I'm not as convinced as the Republican leadership appears to be that we should provide no assistance for businesses, particularly small business in the state because who is it that provides jobs in the state, ... Because of Utah's surplus there is a unique opportunity to enact innovative reforms that will help businesses -- and by extension the state -- increase revenue. The governor is very optimistic that the negotiations will get off on a positive foot. This is a plan B prompted by the interest by business leaders and other community leaders to have a voice if the budget process derails.

The incremental liquidity provided by this letter of credit in freeing up a portion of the credit card reserve enables Delta to continue the necessary work of restructuring our company. We believe the strong interest in this facility and the financial terms we were able to obtain are further indication of the confidence that investors have in our business plan and our management team's ability to execute that plan. Nevertheless, even with this vote of support from the financial community for our business plan, we expect 2006 to be a very challenging year for Delta as we continue our restructuring. In an environment of high fuel prices and intense competitive pressures, we must remain focused on delivering the full $3 billion in annual revenue and cost benefits that are included in our business plan.

We believe Small Business + will quickly become a valuable resource to our community of small-business customers. We are committed to helping small businesses build connections to quickly and easily identify resources and technology partners that can support them. Resources such as Small Business +, Small Business Center and the Small Business Specialist Community are evidence of this work.

I am sure the key role in the implementation of our goals will go to our business structures and their establishments in the face of commerce and trade chambers. It is important that we can do it now jointly using the mechanisms and potential of the Russian-Arab business council, which is actively supported by the Russian Foreign Ministry,
