The market is very jittery with what's happening in Iran, Iraq and Nigeria. We could actually peak in May, the start of the summer driving season, as opposed to the traditional peak period in July.

Then, when the critical peak pricing period starts in the afternoon, you start adjusting that temperature upwards, going as high as 78. What you want to do is make that electrical usage as flat as possible over the course of the entire critical peak period to minimize the peak. Normally it will peak in the middle of the afternoon, but you want to flatten the peak.

Crude inventory went up and the market is concerned about the continuing gasoline stock draw in the US market and the peak summer driving season that starts in late May.

All we need is a bit of a cold snap and suddenly it could easily push back up. We're still in that lull period where the summer driving season is over but we haven't hit peak winter demand.

We're not even in the peak driving season. Imagine what it'll be like the Fourth of July weekend, or even Memorial Day.

I think anybody (who) is willing to sit with it a reasonable period of time will come out OK - if they didn't buy at the absolute peak of the market. Right now, I consider that we are at the peak of the market - or close to it.

While surging high imports likely allowed total U.S. gasoline stockpiles to start rebuilding in the week ended April 28, it may take time for depleted East Coast stocks to reach desired levels ahead of the peak summer driving months.

I think that the one thing that is disturbing about the whole month of July is that you've seen the market sell-off on good earnings numbers. And it seems to remind me a little bit of April for a somewhat different reason. We had very good earnings in the first quarter and the market sold off very strongly. We're starting to see the same pattern in July. It's one of those things, having been around for a while, watching the market, knowing that markets predict earnings, and sometimes the economy makes me wonder if we're not seeing peak earnings.
