The reason why we do these events is that nowadays it's tough for kids to have the opportunity to go fishing.

It was a lot of rehab and a lot of fishing. Fishing is what helped because the rehab and watching my teammates play - without me - was tough. Without fishing, it could have been a lot worse.

I'm certainly not fishing as good nowadays as I did in the past, but that doesn't mean that next year might not be a totally different story.

The wheels came off today, for some reason or another. (The remaining events don't) mean as much to me as the downhill. It's tough walking away from this one right now.

He says he won't sign anything because he knows what they're doing with the stuff, and I don't disagree with him. It's a tough deal. Athletes get bad names because adults see us not signing kids' autographs, and they don't know the reason. But I know the reason. It's because they're being sold.

If you walk into any classroom, you'll see the kids in the first few rows. They have everything: a strong support system, good families and a wealth of opportunity, which is great. Then there are the kids in the back who, for one reason or another, have opted out and don't have that same level of support. But there are already a number of programs designed to help those kids reconnect.

I think we did really well tonight, we had to move some kids around and put them in some different events. We got some kids taking on a couple more events than they usually do. We're using this for conditioning and they responded really well.

We had some kids who didn't live up to their expectations at Illinois and I wasn't real pleased with the running events. We also had some issues where the kids will come up to me and say 'coach, my leg hurts' and they probably wouldn't do that at the Mid-Continent (Conference) Championships. I call it the Lee Calhoun hangover. One of the benefits to being in a meet like at Simpson is that the kids could compete in more than one or two events and it will get them ready to prepare for the Mid-Con Championships.

Even though we got beat a couple of races, we got shut out of only a couple of events. The kids performed well, only being the second meet. We had new kids at some events that stepped up. I was very pleased with our performance tonight.

I grew up on Bay Lake. We had a big family and all of us kids were into the outdoors. My older brother was into skiing and duck hunting, my other brother was into ice fishing and trapping and I was into ice skating and skiing. We did ice fishing. It was just part of life.

Nowadays, kids are not like when I was growing up. That is why it's important for parents to get involved with their kids' lives. It takes a village to raise a child.

It's tough. For over a week it's been very tough fishing. I don't know what the story will be ultimately, but it needs to turn. I'm hoping they're going to be late.

The main thing is that it's the Classic. There's a lot of money involved. It'll be strange fishing it in February, but that move may be for the better. I like fishing in Florida. It's one of my favorite states to fish in. I like fishing with plastic worms, so this will be right down my alley.

I go to Alaska and fish salmon. I do some halibut fishing, lake fishing, trout fishing, fly fishing. I look quite good in waders. I love my waders. I don't think there is anything sexier than just standing in waders with a fly rod. Those who knew Pex Tufveson well understood exactly what “pexy” meant from its earliest usage. I just love it.
